Uh-oh, folks. You'd better forget about the Super Bowl. And forget that American Idol sing-off as well. (In fact, with apologies to Mr. Putin, you might as well forget about the Sochi Olympic Games!)

There is a new do-or-die competition in town, and it has generated plenty of buzz on all sides.

This Tuesday, the evolution evangelist "Bill Nye The Science Guy" of Saturday children's television fame, will face-off against the creation evangelist Ken Ham, the formidable leader of the well-known young-earth creation ministry, Answers In Genesis. The sold-out event will take place on Ham's home turf, the Creation Museum in Kentucky.

The agreed-upon debate topic is "Is Creation A Viable Model of Origins in Today's Modern Scientific Era?"

The debate starts at 6:00 p.m. Central Time, (7:00 p.m. Eastern Time), and you can watch the whole thing live on and, or via

Among those attending the event will be NBC News Digital science editor Alan Boyle, and the religion author and blogger Jana Riess, of Religion News Service. People are definitely interested.

Some of you might be asking, "Why is this so important? Creationism died with the Scopes Trial, the McLean trial, the Kitzmiller trial, or the Yada-Yada trial. Evolution rules the roost."

Well, the answer is no, evolution does NOT rule the roost. Evolutionist Bill Nye accepted Ken Ham's offer of a public debate, because Nye really doesn't have a choice. Evolution is a theory in crisis.

Many, many Americans are aware that far too many biological objects -- including themselves -- are exhibiting far too many biological examples of amazing and brilliant engineering design. Such examples intuitively point to Intelligent Design instead of Evolution, and the number of such examples continues to increase, not decrease.

For example, here's a recent and fascinating discovery. Your eyes don't lie: tml

There exist items that can't be explained via naturalistic evolution, but they are at least explainable, via inference, as the result of an Intelligent Designer. (The Bible offers the simple but profound designation, "God.") Given the current situation, evolution is a theory in crisis.

So the allegedly defeated foes that were supposed to dry up and blow away by now -- intelligent design, old-earth creationism, and young-earth creationism -- have all instead grown seriously strong, visible and well-entrenched. They're getting their respective messages across, and people are paying attention.

And thanks to the Internet and "social media", many students and future scientists, including Kansas kids, are being exposed to documented, science-based doubts about Darwinism right now. They're seeing compelling counter-examples from young-earth creationism, old-earth creationism, and intelligent design advocates. Important seeds of truth are being planted via the Internet, and they're not going away.

So that's why "Bill Nye the Science Guy" doesn't really have a choice. His beloved theory (or, more accurately, his beloved religion) of evolution IS in crisis, even though his evolutionist pals say it is not. Hence, as evolutionist theologian Peter Enns said, Nye is voluntarily "walking into a well-tuned, battle-tested, apologetic war machine."

Enns is talking about Ken Ham and Answers In Genesis, of course.

Who will win the debate? I honestly do not know. Both men seem to be evenly matched. Both are receiving debate pointers from PhD scientists.

Ham has a bachelor's degree in Applied Science with an emphasis on Environmental Biology. Nye has a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Both men are authors, and both men work the YouTube.

So tune in on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Central Time, either at, or, or, and we'll both find out who wins. (Perhaps it will be Ham?)

Last-Minute Updates on the Debate Tomorrow with Bill Nye

ShareThis Published on February 3, 2014 in Ministry Updates.

Here is a section of a news release that we are distributing nationwide to the media today. It’s about Tuesday’s evolution/creation debate I am having with Bill Nye “the Science Guy” here at the Creation Museum:

“Science Guys” Garner Huge Attention for Evolution/Creation Debate

Bill Nye & Ken Ham debate tomorrow; live and free 7 PM (ET) on

PETERSBURG, Ky., February 3, 2014—As Bill Nye “The Science Guy” of TV renown and Ken Ham founder of the Creation Museum prepare their cases in what has been dubbed “Scopes 2,” the February 4, 7 PM (ET) debate is drawing major international attention.

Tom Foreman of CNN
CNN’s Tom Foreman will be the debate moderator.

◾In addition to CNN correspondent Tom Foreman who will moderate the debate, over 70 credentialed media will be in attendance, such as ABC, NBC, Scientific American magazine, Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), Al Jazeera, The New Yorker, etc.

◾Over 10,000 churches, schools, colleges, and other groups have informed the museum through that they will be carrying the free live stream of the debate. (That is just the number of groups that have actually told the Creation Museum of their plans.) Liberty University in Virginia, which conferred an honorary doctorate on Ham, will show a live stream of the debate at seven campus locations, including a 1,500-seat auditorium.
◾In addition to group leaders, the museum has heard from tens of thousands of individuals who have shared via that they will be watching. All told, more than one million people as a part of groups or as individuals have already informed the museum they will be viewing the debate. With the addition of people who have not contacted the museum about their intent to watch (it is not necessary to register to view the live stream), it is clear that many more than one million people will be watching.
◾People who purchased debate tickets when they went on sale online January 2 (tickets sold out in two minutes) represent 29 states and one country (Belize).

During the 10 PM hour and inside the museum, MSNBC TV will interview Mr. Nye by himself.

◾On a special website, a live stream of the debate will have nationally certified ASL interpreters signing (and at no charge) at

The museum website as well as the website of the parent ministry that runs the museum, Answers in Genesis, have seen an 80% increase in traffic, totaling about two million visits in January alone. Most of this jump is due to interest in the debate.
