I was looking at another thread and noticed his name. I just finished rereading his 2 surprised books. I thought they were both quite good. Its obvious a deep work has been done in the mans life.
He made a very strong case for hearing from the Lord and God speaking today as he has all through history. All in all the books were quite good.

I couldn't help noticing a couple of things.

He never mentioned the Baptism in the HS and he never mentioned speaking in tongues. Other than I think there was one odd reference to tongues.

He did say he received his anointing to minister after John Wimber laid hands on him but never spoke to the issue of the Baptism.
He is obviusly charismatic as was John Wimber. There was strong encouragement all through his books for christians to pursue spiritual gifts and leadings of the Lord. I just can't help but wonder how he expected christians to do that.

Another thing I found odd was his continual reference to God speaking by impression, voices and thoughts "in his mind". God speaking to his mind. Sometimes exploding in his mind.
He mentioned often visions and the audible voice of the Lord but I couldn't help but notice the way it was referenced to his mind. Mind as in brain.

I sometimes have thoughts go through my mind that I am aware are the Lord but generally if the Lord impresses me about something it is in my heart as opposed to mind. Also speaking generally when he speaks it is to my heart. Lets just say that usually when he speaks to me it is to my heart and not my mind. I don't want to make to big a deal out of this I just couldn't help noticing it and found it odd.

I looked him up on the internet and found he has retired from active ministry to take care of his wife who either is or is near to becoming an alcoholic. His 13 yr old son also commited suicide which probably led to the wifes problems. The suicide issue is interesting as his own father committed suicide when he was 13. I can't help feeling sorry for him.
