If I am reading this correctly it clearly says: The people of the prince who is to come shall the destroy the city and sanctuary, when the messiah is cut off.

This passage indicates that the "people" of the prince (Antichrist) who destroyed the city and sanctuary is the Roman people. The Roman armies came in and destroyed Jerusalem in 70 A.D. after the messiah was cut off.

The passage shows in verse 26 that the prince to come, who is the Antichrist, is coming out of the Roman Empire. Daniels vision of the end time took place under the King of Persia.

Does this leave the possibility that there could be a Persian tie to the Antichrist? Or is there even enough evidence to know for certain this question of lineage?

I love reading the book of Daniel and seeing Daniel's interaction with powerful Kings that ruled the earth and then seeing God's hand in the affairs of men. It's interesting that God would reveal these future events to men, concerning the future and what will happen at the end of time.

With Iran (Persia) going nuclear and making alliances with the Russians, while spewing out hatred of Israel and still talking of annihilation of the Jewish people, that, we are probably closer to the end of time then what we realize.

Its interesting that Iran would call us the great satan, and then become friends with Russia. When Russia lives just like we do. The modernize western culture has swept through Russia and they are no different then us in that respect.
