I believe she got most of her material from the Welsh Revival (1904-1905) and from the leader of that revival--Evan Roberts.

In some of the editions of the book he (Evan Roberts) is listed as a co-author. Apparently Evan Roberts suffered some sort of breakdown in the midst of the revival and stayed with the Lewis' while recuperating.

As far as the material being based upon 'experiences' more so than actual biblical doctrine I must say that I didn't catch that. I thought that there were a lot of passages used in the presentation.

I'm not totally surprised though because most of the biblical teaching on spiritual warfare comes from 'experiences' and not necessarily presented as doctrinal statements concerning demons. If you think about it there would be precious little teaching concerning spiritual warfare if we took out all of the personal demonic encounters of Jesus and the apostles from the Bible. Of course it goes without saying that anything that contradicts the biblical record concerning spiritual warfare should be suspect!

Blessings,
William
