America has been become a haven for senseless non-sense.

Here's the latest non-sense:

Quote:

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A new billboard on Indy’s southeast side is urging people not to eat turkey this Thanksgiving and it’s aimed at young people.

The ad shows a baby turkey crying “Mommy! Mommy!” beside a cooked bird on a plate. The billboard also says “Let everyone be with their family.”

The billboard, sponsored by PETA, went up near two IPS schools at the intersection of Post and Brookville Roads.

PETA officials said they chose to display the billboard in Indianapolis because of its high concentration of children under 14. They say they want the billboard “to spark discussions between children and parents about compassion at the holiday table.”

“Children are naturally drawn to and love animals, and most would not eat turkey if they knew that the turkey centerpiece had been a real-life bird and part of a family and flock,” says mother and PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman.

PETA says around 46 million turkeys will be killed for Thanksgiving and another 22 million for Christmas.

You mean those kids don't know that use to be a bird. Next year Tracy it would be nice if we could all have twenty pound Gummie bears, shaped like a turkey. Very Happy Doesn't anyone out there care about the baby cranberries being ground up?

Those PETA guys never give up. I read a while ago one can get "turkey" made out of tofu and shaped like a turkey. Laughing

I'm not big on the holidays but I really miss my mum and mum in law making a big turkey dinner and having all the family over.

Make that 46 million and one, PETA. I hope that gibblet gravy I'm going to make isn't equivalent to boiling a kid in its mother's milk!

btw, ('by the way' for you Gary! <grin>) I've been enjoying all of the posts even though I haven't had a whole lot of extra time to comment... maybe that will change in the next few days!

Blessings,
William

Hi William,

The young turkeys are good to eat as well. LOL

Our power got knocked out by a thunderstorm that passed through here, we were without power for one complete day until 11:00 at night it makes you thankful that we have such a thing as electricity. You don't realize it until its taken away, even for a short period of time.

Speaking of all that gravy!

There's nothing worse then going to a family get together on Thanksgiving Day, setting down to eat and then the "food police" show up at the door.

The next thing you know their educating us on all the deadly cholesterol, trans fat, and other poisons laying on the table before you. You look around the table waiting for people to drop over like flies from just the fumes. Then if you want a little butter on your yeast roll you feel guilty and the tendency is to sneak it under the table to butter your roll.

The food police set there with their leaves of kale, and granola letting us know of the health benefits were all missing out on.

Hopefully know one has to deal with the "food police" this holiday, but they are out there waiting and watching, and just maybe they won't show up this year. Cool

You sound like Ron and Dick talking, they had a similar conversation several years ago about food. I miss them...

Hey Dick and Ron, if you still read, HAPPY THANKSGIVING...trust and obey
