Early this morning, after reading in Romans, I got to thinking what would be my favorite chapter in the Bible? I decided Romans 8 was my favorite (today anyway<smile>) although Matthew 5, Isaiah 53, Psalms 91, John 4.......ect. ect.

So today I attended the funeral for my next door neighbor and the preacher shared that the man who had passed wanted him to read something to everyone at his funeral. It was Romans 8. He said that it was his favorite chapter in his favorite book of The Bible and he wanted his family and grandsons to know and understand the great LOVE God has for us and how NOTHING can separate us from God's love, which is in Christ Jesus our LORD. I hope they were blessed as much as I was.

Anyone care to share their favorite chapter, if that's possible(to narrow down the many, many wonderful chapters within The Bible to just one). What if you could only choose one chapter to keep with you for the rest of this life's journey...no other part of The Bible, just one chapter?

James,
A quick note here.

I don't know if I have a favorite chapter as they are all awesome if you know what I mean. I do have favorite portions of scriptures that I love to read, they have so much meaning and depth to them.

The coolest thing I ever heard in my life was when I found out Jesus Christ was alive and we have His Words written to us. I like what GWB said in another post, "I would not want to go through life without Him".

Gary

Hi James,
Very interesting question. There are so many chapters that are very special, but I will share a new testament and an old testament chapter.
My new testament chapter would be Colossians 3. This particular chapter has blessed me through different trials I have gone through, especially verses 1-4.

My old testament chapter would be Psalm 86.

Of course the whole Bible is special and speaks to us in how we should live our lives, and shows us all that God has done and will do for us. There are so many promises for us to claim for ourselves that it's hard to single out one verse or one chapter, but it is a blessing to think about how God has spoken to us at different times in our lives through His Word.

That is a tough question but if I had to give one chapter right now I'd say Heb 13. It is chock-full of reminders and promises and the "...I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" is comforting way beyond the context of material blessings!

It's a good summary of reminders for our daily walk!

Blessings,
William

Hi James,

Such great scriptures every one has given. Aren`t we so blessed to have God`s whole word.

My husband Trevor chose Psalm 121,

`I will lift up my eyes to the mountains: from whence shall my help come from? My help comes from the Lord. who made heaven & earth. He will not allow your foot to stumble......`

I choose Jude 24,

`Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, & to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion & authority, before all time & now & forever. Amen.

I don't know if this was my grandmother's favorite chapter or not, but I heard her quote it literally hundreds of times as she looked up a small hill from her 'prayer spot' under a large Tulip Poplar tree.

Many days on my morning walk up the side of a small mountain I too quote this scripture, looking up unto heaven. It draws me nearer in fellowship with The Lord, it also reminds me of my grandmother's faithful prayers unto God for me.

Hi James,

How blessed are we who have had parents, grandparents who knew the Lord & passed on to us the deeper walk `dying to self & living for Him.` Shows us how important our walk is before those around us. I am encouraged to hear the men on this site seeking to know the Lord more & more. God has given men that protective responsibility & us ladies here appreciate you all.

I like Ps. 121 as well. I confess it over my life every day.

Fires will be kindled to testify that two and two make four. Swords will be drawn to prove that leaves are green in summer.”

So now I have a new 'favorite chapter', Philippians chapter three. I love what Paul said concerning how that everything he had or had gained or had loss in life was as dung compared to coming to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. And the only desire he had was to "...to be found in Him" and "...that I may know Him". Phil. 3:9-10

Also his determination to put the past behind him ["...forgetting those things which are behind..."] and press forward in Jesus, seeking Him alone. Phil. 3:13-14
