Do you have one? The reference is to having a list of things to do before one "kicks the bucket" I don't plan on kicking the bucket but I do have a list of things to do before Jesus comes. The two main issues to me are seeing a number of people i care about saved and visiting some places.

I've done a fair bit of traveling and really enjoy experiencing other cultures. I'm going to Turkey in Oct. Another bro and I smuggled bibles into China in 2000 with the bible league. That was a little nerve wracking. A lot of cultures have some sort of ceremony to raise the flag each morning/evening. The one in Tiananmen square in China was quite interesting.

In any case one place on my list is the Wagah border crossing between Pakistan and India. They have a ceremony each night to lower the flag and close the gates. I found the video on you tube. Please keep in mind that these people are absolutely serious. From their side there is nothing comical or humorous about it. Nor is there anything humorous to the many Indian/Pakistani tourists who come to see it.

I of course see it in a completely different light.

So no one liked my video? I am shocked, SHOCKED!
Never mind.

I had a reason for posting it. A spiritual reason no less. Actually several. Which I will get to in due course.

In any case I have some spiritual thoughts on the issue of travel. I just don't have time this weekend.

O-key-do-key then...We sure don't want you going into shock, Mark. You know I always have an opinion, just try to keep them to myself most of the time. First impression? They reminded me of a Sam's Club pep-rally<grin> In case you aren't familiar with Sam's Club, it's the bulk shopping store of WalMart, and before they open each day they gather together and do a (in my opinion) silly rah-rah chant to pump the sales associates....

Well, you asked.

Now I wait anxiously for some spiritual thoughts on travel... Smile

WARNING: Don't watch if you fancy yourself as 'unemotional'!

Especially interesting is the shot in the demilitarized zone-Korea.

One day we'll all dance before the Lord with all of our hearts!

Very good William. I really liked the one in Tonga where the wave hit him.

Yes Rev. 14/3 and my heart yearns for it.

I gave some thought to what I wanted to say and changed my mind about saying it. Instead I'm going to post a couple of thoughts on spiritual travel.

Well travel is spiritual. I think that today with travel so cheap and easy everyone should take a trip to Israel. It really is a life changing experience. I think every chrisitian I have met that has gone agrees with that. A lot of the stuff there is hype of course. Visiting the upper room ???. Well it is an upper room but that’s about it. But hey it is in Jerusalem! Lots of stuff though we do know Jesus was actually there and stood there for real.

The synagogue in Capernaum, for eg. It dates to the 3thd C. but the stones its built on date to the first C. Jesus was in that synagogue many times. He probably walked on them.
The Convent of the Sisters of Zion was built over the actual courtyard where Jesus was condemned to death. He actually stood there. You can visit it.
You can visit the area of Capernaum where Peter confessed Jesus. The well in Beersheva. Abrahams well. The actual tombs of Abraham & Sarah in Hebron.
The wailing wall/ western wall of the ancient temple complex was built by Herod and dates to the time of Jesus.
You can walk on the temple mount (politics permitting) where the ancient temple stood & the Holy of Holies and will be built again. You can visit the actual valley where David fought Goliath. Visit the Valley of Armageddon where the antichrist will meet his maker.

And on and on and on. There are all kinds of tours going. Every flavour of religion. The group I went with would tour during the day and have interesting visitors in to talk to us at night. Local believers Israeli and Palestinian. We attended a local messianic congregations service. Lots of tours like that going. I’m going back with my wife and renting a car probably next year. Take ourselves around.

If you haven’t gone you really should. Just being there is spiritual. History for us as Xians started there and will end there. Jesus is going to come back to the Mount of Olives. It brings so much of the Bible alive.

If you’re a timid soul who is concerned about danger and safety then please be aware that the leading cause of death in Israel is . . . car accidents. That’s because in my opinion Israel is in many ways a third world country. They haven’t yet figured out which foot uses the gas and which the brake. Honestly though if you watch the TV news you would think the place is a cauldron of rioting guns wars and terrorism. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is very little violent crime as well. I guess the bottom line is you’re afraid you should probably stay home.

Lastly I’d like to say that I don’t believe that Israel has any significance religiously or spiritualy. They aren’t holy places. You don’t gain favor with God or become more holy by being there. You do gain a tremendous appreciation for the bible but there is nothing merit deserving about it. The bible does call it the Holy Land but going there doesn’t make you more holy. It does have a lot of historical signifigance. But that is about it. That obviously doesn’t need to be said for the regulars here but who knows who reads this.

Now you're talk'n Mark, Jerusalem is on my 'bucket list'.

Revelation 21

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He shall dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make ALL things new..."

You mentioned that travel to Israel is cheap and easy (and I certainly undersand what you are saying in that context), but the trip I've been desiring to make for over 33 years is very costly, in fact we're told it'll cost us everything and the road leading there will not be easy. I long for the coming of The Lord and the 'New Jerusalem', and the removal of all tears, sorrow, pain, and death. There will be no car bombs or suicide bombers in this Jerusalem, no one making merchandise of things that are Holy, there'll be no need of the sun nor moon, the gates won't have to be guarded against the enemy...Jesus Christ, The LAMB of God, our Saviour, LORD and King will reign for ever and ever...and we shall see His face and His name will be written on our foreheads. Glory to God, Hallelujah.

Yep, that my trip of a lifetime, my 'to do list'.

Nothing wrong with that confession!

Actually my other thought on spiritual travel involved a trip to New Jerusalem. I'll post it as soon as I get it typed out here

As promised my thoughts on travel being spiritual. I’m speaking here of my trip to New Jerusalem or “The Rapture”

Did you ever wonder how it will happen? I know the bible says it will be in the twinkling of an eye. That’s true of course. To anyone standing and watching it will be an instantaneous thing. Here and caught away. And it wouldn’t surprise me if some who oppose us and think this is a farce will be watching. Smile
Anyway for me the twinkling of an eye is me entering eternity where there is no time. So I’m going to enjoy it. Look forward to it anticipate it and enjoy it as it’s happening.

I’d like to be close to my wife when I go. So we can enjoy it together.

Here it comes. The sound of the angel blowing the great trumpet. Jesus giving a mighty shout. No mistaking that voice. That tremendous pull in our heart. Starting to rise into the air. My wife and I looking at each other with the same knowing in our hearts. This is it! We did it. Its all over. It was all worth it. WE MADE IT!

Rising up higher and higher. Looking around.. Seeing the others you know. Delighted smiles. Rising higher and seeing further. Friends from the US. Lots from the Indiana area but Hmmmmm not as many as you would think. Seeing Bro and Sis from all over the world rising with us.

Heh Heh there goes a bunch in chariots and horses of fire. They’re in a hurry to get there. Me? I’m just trying to enjoy it.

Starting to feel the changes in my body. Turning into a glorified body. My intelligence magnifying millions of times over.
MY WINGS.!!!! The glory of God that will be mine for eternity coming around me.

Getting quite high now. Seeing the clouds from heaven. The great white spiritual cloud I’m heading for.
THE SKY !!!! . . . Its filled with angels. Happy beaming laughing angels and all enjoying the sight.

Then in the midst of the cloud that impossibly bright and glorious figure. ITS JESUS!!!! Shinning like a thousand suns. Arms held wide open in welcome. That huge smile. He’s obviously enjoying the sight too.

Jesus getting closer and closer. All the angels rejoicing and singing.

Then we’re there. Standing on the cloud. Excited laughing rejoicing shouting dancing leaping for joy. The realization we made it. We let him do his will in our life his way and we made it.

Jesus finally gets everyone calmed down and one by one we’re brought before the Lord. “Well done good and faithful servant” “Enter into the joy of your master”. And we receive our reward. Then its time for work. Seven years left for this world and we have much work to do.

What a day that will be.

Well certainly not to the extent you obviously have... Smile

And I thought I had a vivid imagination, I had to fasten my seat belt just reading that. Hippies from the 60's dropping LSD didn't have anything on you, Mark. I gotta hand it to ya, you definitely have put some thought into it, must be those long hours on the road.

I really liked the prospect of 'my' intelligence being magnified millions of times over...Hey, I might be able to understand the U.S. tax code then; of course by then it won't matter. Rolling Eyes

Even if it don't QUITE go down as described above, I too, look to that day. "What a day that will be", Amen.
