Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Jesus is wonderful and He is our counsellor, but He also wants to be our Wonderful Counsellor. The Word of God has given us numerous promises to lead us and guide us, chasten when needed, protect, preserve and keep us safe. We are also promised trials, testings and through much tribulation to enter the kingdom of God. Only God knows what we need to bring us to the place He wants us. Each of us has a personal journey that no one else has. Yes, we can relate to others who are going through various trials, and even commanded to bear one anothers burdens and pray for each other. And know that God gives each of us specific things to overcome, not only so we can glorify God in these areas, but to help others. 2 Cor1:3-4 "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them, which are in any trouble, BY THE COMFORT WHEREWITH WE OURSELVES ARE COMFORTED OF GOD."

When we look around us we see fear, despair, depression, discouragement, hopelessless, wickedness, and desperation.
Why do you think so many people are following after the false prophets, the give to get deception, the social gospel, and giving themselves over to people who have changed the word of God into nothing more than a story book. Something for people long ago, but not now, because things are really bad and we need the help of men! WRONG, we need Jesus Christ and His counsel, and I might say wonderful counsel. Psychology is not the way for people to get truly delivered and free from the oppression they have, only Jesus Christ and His peace. Jesus is the healer and deliver and shepherd of the sheep.

Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever(Hebrews 13:8.) When He said I will never leave you nor forsake you(Hebrews 13:5) he meant just that.

James 1:5-6 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."

The counsel of the Lord will preserve us, protect us, guide us,
instruct us in the ways we should walk. It will give us peace in the storm, while all around seems to be falling apart, Gods counsel will stand. We may feel like we are in the fire, but as the 3 Hebrews experienced, there will be one there with us: Jesus. When all others may forsake us, we can be assured of the one who will never leave us nor forsake us, the one who cared enough for us to leave the splendor of heaven to come here and die on a cross and be raised the third day, just for us.

If you fill your mind with the radio people speaking nothing but fear, then maybe it is time to turn off the radio/TV and get into the Word of God and see the wonderful counsel that our Wonderful Cousellor has promised.

Isaiah 26:3 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee."

One way the Lord counsells us is to keep our minds stayed on Him. Every place you turn today you hear the negative, whether it be about the economy, the war, health care, unemployment, and many others things. People are stressed at work, at home, in the grocery store, on the street, driving, and at church.
Churches have compromised and followed after every wind of doctrine, whether it be the give to get, Rick Warrens plan, Willow Creek, The Emergent Church, the false prophets and apostles, and the feel good message. There are so many churches that have built up huge debts by building bigger and better, so to keep the money coming they don't want to offend their big contributors.

As we keep our minds on Jesus and the Word, we are promised peace.
Psalm 119:165 "Great peace have they which love they law: and nothing shall offend them."

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Isaiah 40:31 "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strenth; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

These bible verses are not just words on a website, but are the very words of God, who has promised the believer peace. There are many other verses we can look at, and as the Lord leads, will. Grab ahold of these verses with all your being and get them in your heart because in the days ahead we will need them.

God has promised us peace in the storm, and when the world is shouting and cursing in fear, remember we have the peace of God.

2 Thes. 3:16 "Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all."

" I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel..." ~ Psalms 16:7

The counsel being given today in America, whether it be from the government or the institutional church; is not sound counsel, nor is it from God. And counsel that is not based upon God's Word is empty and void.

" For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them." ~ Deuteronomy 32:28

“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,”

Another area the Lord counsels us in is to be salt and light, Matt. 5:13-16. Jesus tells us we are to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We are told that we are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. We are told to let our light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

What responsibility we have as followers of Jesus Christ to have whatever we do be something that will gloify our Father in heaven. Meditate on that for a while and see that everything we do and everything we say can be salt and light to an unbelieving world on its way to destruction and an eternity separated from Jesus. And we also need to be salt and light to those who are weary in the way, those who are having struggles in their christian walk, and those who have backslid. We need to encourage, admonish, and rebuke with all longsuffering, as the Lord gives us opportunity. God help us all to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Yes, yes, yes, HE DID IT FOR US!! When one considers what you've pointed out it is a wonder that we would ever find ourselves discouraged or overcome by the pressures of trials. He is for us, who can be against us?

Thanks for your encouraging words... very refreshing!

Blessings,
William

Ah yes, The Word of God, our wonderful councellor!

Psalm 125:1-2 "They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforh even for ever."

What a tremendous promise! We who trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever.

I think the older I get the more I see that God's ways are not my ways, and that God knows best, even when I may not like the circumstances. My little 2 1/2 year old niece, who is like a granddaughter to me, is moving to Georgia with her mother. Besides my mother, she is the most precious and joyful thing in my life, and now she is moving 16 hours away. But I know God has a plan with this and all I need to do is pray and trust the Lord, that His way is the right way. I don't understand, but I trust God to do what is right. My family is saved by faith in Jesus name, therefore I will trust, and be not afraid and see that the will of the Lord shall be accomplished in their lives. Thank God for faith.

We see people turning to all these self help guru's, buying DVD's, attending conferences, studying their books, and hanging on their every word; seeking counsel and direction through the wisdom of man. And even Christians going around seeking 'a word' from the prophets of today, going the seminars to find how to please God. There are classes being given to train Christians 'how to' know God, how to learn His 'purpose' for their lives.

When He has already revealed His will and purpose for our lives through the counsel of His Word. It's not by sacrifices and burnt offerings, God wants us to have a relationship with Him, and that can only come from obedient hearts.

"O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the Lord.

Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"
Micah 6:5-8

Like I said before, I've been reading some of these old threads and this one is just as appropriate as it was 10 years ago. I don't know where sparkles is today but I'd sure like to thank her again for this wonderful encouragement!

Blessings,
William
