Has anyone heard from the Oswalts lately? Last I heard they were in Alabama. That's been nearly ten years ago.

I don't know much and have heard nothing for a number of years, but it is my understanding that he (Jim) left his wife for another woman. I assume he obtained a divorce. Ruth Ann, (I believe that was his wife's name) was still holding fast for reconciliation, but that was a long time ago.

I've had no personal contact (so all of the above is hearsay) with the Oswalts since 1991-92. We ran into them at a conference in Kansas City at that time. Steve Hill was at the same conference. Paul Cain was the main speaker, and if I'm not mistaken, had some contact with the Oswalts (maybe even to the extent of visiting the Birmingham body?).

Did you hear the Oswalt's testimony tape? Very interesting! Ruth Ann is a real sweety. I remember Jim telling me that our preacher wasn't qualified because he and been divorced and remarried. That's been nearly 30 years ago.

I don't remember ever hearing his testimony.

I can say that his ministry caused much grief for two of my aunts and their families who were treated as second class citizens of the kingdom because they had been divorced, and they both suffered much as a result of his teaching in that area.

I have a sister that is still friends with the Oswalt's daughter, Tammy. (Actually, Tammy was my girlfriend at FA, but we had to sneak around because her parents wouldn't allow her to have a boyfriend).

The Oswalt's did indeed divorce. Jim is currently married to a woman that attended his church in Bham. They go to an Assembly of God church in Bham. Last I heard, he was starting to preach at the church, and this was causing a rift among some of the members, since he had been divorced.

Ruth Ann moved to Indiana and is living near her kids. I believe she is in Layfayette.

Their son, Jeff, is also divorced from his wife Karen. He still lives in Bham and works for a local construction company.

I believe Ruth Ann had a brother named Otis Wearly and he moved to Alabama too with his wife Linda. Haven't seen any of them for over 10 years or more. I did talk to Dee Dee the Oswalts' oldest daughter on the phone. I miss them! Jim seemed harsh with Ruth Ann too often. Satan is on the rampage and wants to destroy marriages and families.

How old would Ruth Ann Oswalt be? We had a client named Ruth Ann Oswalt that passed away last year I believe? I'm from Northern Indiana, and this individual lived in the Warsaw area.

If we all maintained the status quo, how quickly we would fall!

Ruth Ann Oswalt is early to mid 60s. Her birthday is actually on the 10th of this month. She and Jim were the same age, and he is about 7 or 8 years younger than my dad. That would put Ruth Ann at about 63 years old.

My sister has spoken with her daughter, Tammy, in the past year, and she said nothing about her mother. They are currently living in Shelbyville. It must be a different Ruth Ann Oswalt.

Good to hear from you again, Cougar.

- By the way, I was going through a box in my attic this weekend, and found all my old FA notes from the late 70s and early 80s (how many 8 or 9 year olds take notes today?) Anyway, I found some notes to one of your grandfather's sermons. I didn't have time to pull it out and look at it, but I may do that at some point over the next week.

I also found my notes from the Sunday morning after HEF died. I don't know if you remember or not, but he died on a Saturday night. My notes said that there was no sermon on Sunday morning, but that we sang and prayed for the entire service. That night, Jack Ferrell preached the sermon.

Tammy is currently living in Greenwood, Indiana. She is happily married to a great husband and has five children with one due in December.

Ruth Ann is living in Bargersville, Indiana and doing very well. She is still believing and praying for Jim. She works at Embassy Suites in downtown Indianapolis. She is now 65 a wonderful grandmother.

Indy,
Thanks for the update! I have not seen Tammy and Dean in a number of years. I am happy to know that they are doing well (as well as adding another little one to their household).

In addition, I am very pleased to hear that Ruth Ann is doing well. She worked at the Embassy Suites here in Bham for a number of years (in fact, my wife and I had our rehearsal dinner at the Ruth's Chris at the hotel, and they took great care of us because they thought so highly of Ruth Ann.) I have always liked Ruth Ann, and she was always kind to me.

If / When you seen them again, please give them my love in Christ.

My wife Beverly and I were close to the Oswalts for a time, and while Ruth Ann was the epitome of a God-Fearing Woman, Jim was a fine example of an FA husband, which I say tongue-in-cheek, as I don't want to "touch Gods's annointed"... lol.

Jim married Beth Mcallister. She attended FA for many years and then moved to AL. When I saw her a couple years back in Winona lake, I really didn't know what to think. She asked if I would go to breakfast with them the next morning and I decided it was a good idea. I am glad I went, because it was a blessing to hear how God has dealt with them. They seem happy and yes they have had some ruff times, but they are going on with the Lord and that is about all I have to say.

Yes, I knew Ruth Ann and him years ago and they were both a blessing. I hope the best for all of them and their children.
