The God of this world hath blinded the minds.

2 Cor 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

I think without exception that most think this verse applies only to unsaved people. It clearly states that the minds of them which believe not. How many that are saved have had their minds blinded in regards to divine healing, or the baptism of the Holy Spirit for instance. I could list many other examples and so probably can you.

What about in the area of Christs death and resurrection? If you ask any one why did Christ die and rise again they would most likely site 1 Cor 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; Every one agrees that Christ died for our sins.

However has Satan blinded our eyes to 2 Cor 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

We are no longer to live for ourselves but for Him. How many have seen this truth?
I confess that I have not lived my life for him but mostly for myself. My eyes were blinded also. Most of us have had the idol of self that we have worshipped and we all know what the Lord says about idols.

God grant that henceforth we are not blinded by Satan and that we will live our lives for Jesus and not for ourselves.

Be Blessed

The sad part of spiritual blindness is that those who are spiritually blind don't realize it.

Jn 9 recounts the story of the blind man Jesus healed. The pharisees of course were finding fault with the healing of the man and of Jesus explanation of it.
First of all they didn't believe the man was blind in the first place.
Then they accused Jesus of being a sinner and inquired a number of time of the blind man "how did he heal thee ". I love his response in verse 25.He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
Vs 39-41 are most telling
39And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

40And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?

41Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Those who are puffed up and prideful think they see but in reality they are blind.

Jesus came to make us who were blind to see.

Amen, the cause of spiritual blindness can be atributed to pride and that can take on many forms. There's 'my denomination believes and does it this way...', and then there's blindness due to a refusal to obey God's simplest instructions. Many times Christians aren't really blind to spiritual matters; they just refuse to obey.

I quite often wonder just how those of us who were taught by The Holy Spirit by way of HEF and have returned to the denomational system, sleep at night. I'm certainly not the poster boy for a perfected christian, and I understand how pride creeps in(because Satan knows where we are weakest and will find a way to minister to that fleshly area...) I mean, there's a temptation to be proud of being humble, if one isn't walking in The Spirit and yeilding to the teachings of Christ...but the difference between the meat we've been feed(and still have available to us) verses the stuff being put out today(for the most part, not all) is like comparing fillet steak to tofu(or worse)

There's been said, by many people, that as one goes into adulthood they start thinking that maybe their parents are getting smarter...when in reality folks are finally starting to 'grow up'. Same can be said about our christian growth, as we learn to 'apply' what we've been taught, the truth of it all starts to become apparent...but only as we yeild and obey, we can't yeild and obey when pride has us blinded.

What does the scriptures say? HE dwells with them that are of a humble and contrite heart...The 'meek' shall inherit the earth...Pride goeth before the fall.

It's pride(imo) that causes us to disobey God's clear instructions; we're saying, by disobeying, 'I know more about how to run my life than God'...or I love God...BUT...
not enough to yeild and obey Him in all things. The god of this world, Satan, causes the blindness and many times it's brought on through pride.

Thanks Grandom, good word to mediate upon.

Good point, Grandom... The just shall live by faith!

Rom 3:3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

Blessings,
William

I found it interesting In Gen chapter one, the creation events that at the end of each day God examined what He had done and found that it was good.

Should we not also on a daily basis examine ourselves? 2Cor13:5 (NIV) Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you ---- unless, of course, you failed the test?

In further contemplation of this scripture another one comes to mind 1 Jn2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

I have to confess that I fall far short on this scripture as well as many others. To many times I have not walked as He walked.

Thank God for 2cor 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. Thank Him for mercy and grace every day.
