Something has been on my heart to share for quite awhile. The more I observe this world and everyone around me; it has been startling to me as to how easily people are in the habit of mocking (scorning).

I believe the tendency to mock comes from pride. The mocking is not just about the existence of God. People are doing it towards leaders, when we should be praying for them. Others mock out of jealousy because some have more material possessions or are at a better place in life. Some mock the person in the gutter (homeless) because they are easy targets. Mocking takes place in intellectual settings; knowledge puffs up. Christians mock other Christians or ministries, when in reality; they are the ones who made a mistake at one point. Mocking is easy to do when one wants to justify sin or when one is convicted and does not want to change. Some mock when others simply don’t agree with another. Comedians, professional or on a day to day basis, love to tear down. Sadly, Christians are mocking each other, I find, more and more.

When I mention the mocking of other Christians, I am not addressing the righteous discernment that comes with warnings. We need to be warned about deception. I think we also need to be warned to not be around mockers as well. Could both parties be considered the same as to a Christian’s downfall or battle? I think so. Neither one is good towards making it in the end. To me, it is just another negative to deal with and something I have to work at to edit from my mind.

Mockers are the enemy’s tool to try to unravel and fray one’s total being. The work of a mocker is dangerous. Mockers are the devil’s tools. Again, sadly, they are his puppets and will pay a high price. The seriousness of intelligent human minds, to be so deceived, will surprise them in the end. I believe it will be a fearful thing for mockers to fall into the hands of the Living God. By then, it will be too late. It is especially frightening if these mockers call themselves Christians. I, personally, have experienced walking in self deception. It scares me to think about how flippant my arrogance was. It scares me to think I could be in hell, and many I am believing for, when I thought all was well. I marvel at the grace He has shown to this once prodigal daughter. Totally unbeknownst to me, I was the devil’s tool at one time. However, “His gentleness has made me great” and He has covered my sin with His Blood….but….I had to admit things and repent in order for Him to do so.

I believe that when one learns not to mock, and I am one of those who are learning, they show a form of holiness that is not of the spirit of this age. As we race towards the end, which is mocked as well, it seems that Satan’s influence is in full swing and manifesting scorn towards anything that resembles God, whether He is mentioned or not. As long as fingers are being pointed with pride, the enemy is happy. As long as the words or suggestions are not about love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, meekness, temperance, or faith Satan wins. It is death in action; hate, disrespect, divisions, and jealousy to name just a few. Mocking never begets life.

The Word tells us not to sit with the scornful. Sometimes you can’t help it. However, there are other times we make the choice to sit with these types of people. When I make that mistake, I always leave with a heaviness to deal with. It is oppression that I chose to sit around most of the time and I am always sorry when it happens.

I want to encourage all of us to continue the fight to the end. I believe the majority of this fight is in our minds and includes who we choose to sit with and who we don’t; influence. It is a conscience choice. I pray that all of us will prayerfully consider who we choose to sit with whether it is face to face, TV, radio, what we read, or the internet. I have shared very personal testimonies so maybe a few might turn back to Him in humbleness and repentance so that none of us are, or become mockers.

I believe this is why Dr. Freeman was so adamant about the press, fellowship, and TV. He wanted our minds to be set as flints towards the Word. I think the less negative you have to filter, the better. As I network, I am finding that more and more people are choosing the old ways of FA and walking away from these venues as a conscience choice. I think it is easy enough to know what goes on in the world and to stay in touch by filtering our news, and networking, sources.

I do not want, in anyway, to minister condemnation. That is why I have not posted anything about this for so long. Jesus is our restoration. I think He wants us to walk freely in this world and that includes our minds, as well….to be at peace.

Here are a few scriptures to consider:

A Note to Mockers

Bear with me while I speak, and after I have spoken, mock on.
Job 21:3

First of all, you must understand that in the last days mockers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.
II Peter 3:3

Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
Psalm 1:1

The arrogant mock me without restraint, but I do not turn from your law.
Psalm 119:51

How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?
Proverbs 1:22

God mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble.
Proverbs 3:34
Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult. Whoever rebukes a wicked person incurs abuse. Do not rebuke a mocker or they will hate you. Rebuke a wise person and they will love you.
Proverbs 9:7-8

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you. If you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.
Proverbs 9:10,12

The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.
Proverbs 14:6

A mocker resents correction. They will not consult the wise.
Proverbs 15:12

He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity. The proud and arrogant person, "Mocker" is their name. They behave with overbearing pride.
Proverbs 21:23-24

Drive out the mocker and out goes strife. Quarrels and insults are ended.
Proverbs 22:10

Do not be deceived. God cannot be mocked. A person reaps what they sow. The one who sows to please their sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction. The one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Galatians 6:7-8

Great Post GWB.

Certainly we all need to heed what the word says in regards to mocking.

I especially liked this verse. Drive out the mocker and out goes strife. Quarrels and insults are ended.
Proverbs 22:10

The word is true.
God bless you

We know that God's Word is true, but isn't it a blessing to 'see' it in everyday life experiences?

I'm waiting to 'see' the fulfilment of..."The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me." Smile
