A year or so ago someone raised the question whether or not a Christian could have a demon, I'd like to present my argument that they/we can.
First there is the question of 'possession' versus 'oppression'; a person possessed of a demon spirit is under the ownership or complete control
of the demon. But a person oppressed is just in bondage or influenced by the evil spirit/demon. Also there's the argument concerning whether
a 'spirit filled' Christian can be possessed or only oppressed, I believe a Christian can be possessed; but I believe that a Christian with The Baptism
of The Holy Spirit can only be oppressed by demonic spirits.

I have witnessed several Spirit filled Christians set free from demonic oppression when taken through deliverance; I know that in the 'church' today there
are many Christians who are under the influence of denominational spirits and religious spirits. There is a demon spirit named Jezebel that is prevalent
in the churches today, and it's not just in women. It manifest as a desire to control others and is one of the strongmen/doorkeepers, and many times
lust, bitterness, division, and unforgiveness spirits accompany this demon. There are usually strong 'soul ties' associated with a Jezebel spirit, and sometimes
deliverance comes only through prayer and fasting.(Mk.9:29)

Many times religious spirits will blind a Christian to the workings of that very same spirit, I mean if a Christian has a religious spirit and someone trys
to bring this to their attention, they're going to be blinded to this and thereby remain oppressed because they're convienced by the spirit that Christians
can't have demons. Often this results in physical oppression with spirits of infirmity involved as well as blindness to the deeper truths of Gods
Word or the inability to receive instruction from others...(they know it all)

What about Christians who have been delivered, can they reopen the door to the devil? Yes, I believe scripture shows this in Matt.12:43-45 where the
unclean spirit is cast out and because the door wasn't kept closed and the man didn't fill with the presence of God, the unclean spirit came back and
brought seven more spirits more wicked than himself, and the man was in worse trouble than before. We're told through out The Word to guard our minds,
what we look at, what we do, we can reopen the door to oppression of Satan and his demonic spirits. Ecc.10:8 and Eph.4:27 Sin opens the door, and
Satan has demons just waiting to possess or oppress Christians who aren't being diligent.

There are some demons that are stronger than others and are usually the doorkeeper/strongman that when allowed in a persons life will bring others
like it. Example, Lust will be accompanied by sexual spirits, uncleaness, fornication, adultery, pornography, ect. Pride will be a strongman,
there's religious pride, national pride, self-centered pride...Pride keeps people from seeing their need for God.

The good news is, there is help available, deliverance can be had by confessing the sin, repenting, renouncing the demon and his control
and commanding him to depart in Jesus' Name, and standing in faith, filling the empty place with Gods Word and The Holy Spirit...daily.

James:

GWB:

I think diligence is the word of the hour.

"And they overcame by the Blood of the Lamb, and the Word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death."

Here is another issue with deliverance. This is very common.
Someone will have a "little" problem.

Maybe a little problem with a spirit of lust, or a spirit of pride, or gluttony or diabetes, or whatever . . .

Or they will have a little problem in their genes with something physical (not a demon) just the genes aren't made right. Maybe something they've inherited from their parents.

Or somewhere in their life they have a little problem say with having accidents (accident prone)

Or a little problem with a bad habit maybe carelessness.

The key word here is little. It is a little problem. Maybe a bit of a nag but something you can live with. Or in the case of your genes you don't even know about it.

The person then for whatever reason opens the door and a strong demon comes in. He takes the little problem and makes it into a huge problem. He takes the genetic abnormality (asthma for eg.)and turns it into a full blown sickness. He strengthens the spirit of lust so it becomes a problem that can't be controlled.

The reason for this is because why come in and start a new problem when there is something all ready to work with right in front of you. When engineers build a harbor. They look for a place with natural features. Why start form scratch when nature has done half the work for you. Demons use common sense too.

The answer here is to go back (in prayer) and look at where the little problem became a big problem. Even if it is a strong demon that has come in it can be dwelt with. Because he doesn't have a very strong hold on you. Many times just a little faith you and Jesus. Me and Jesus and a mustard seed of faith make a victory. Many times they come in like this but they don't have a very strong hold on you. Meaning that even a strong demon can be dwelt with fairly easily through repentance closing the door and rebuking the devil

"Little" problems, Song of Solomon 2:15 "...the little foxes, that spoil the vines..."

You know, Mark, I've never spent that much time thinking about this from this angle, but what you're saying makes sense when thought about. And example that comes to my mind is habits that turned into addictions and where it went from a 'little' deal to a 'big' deal. A cigarette every now and then, becomes a few every day, which becomes a pack a weekend, which becomes 2 packs a day. Occasional pot smoking becomes daily pot smoking, which becomes a lifestyle and an addiction, and many times leads to others drugs that are even more addictive. Alcohol, a beer becomes a six-pack, and before ya know it it takes a dozen beers just to get a 'buzz', and how many end up drinking a quart of Vodka a day just to fight off the 'shakes'?

I believe the door is opened when one first 'tries' drugs(and we know tobacco and alcohol are addictive drugs also). Why some are able to never become addicted and others are the first time probably has more than one simple answer. I believe spirits can be passed down through bloodlines from generation to generation, and maybe some spirits just aren't as strong as others.(maybe the persons willpower) Maybe in the grand scheme of the spiritual warefare that's going on, Satan has that/those people ensnared in another way and isn't concerned with having them in bondage in a particular area???

Like for example, if Satan already has someone deceived and tied up spiritually and under his control concerning false doctrines or heresy, then why would or should he need to in every area of the person's life? He's already got him bound for hell, he can use the demons for tormenting someone else's life.

I do find it amazing how that what is a giant temptation for some and a lifetime struggle, is easily overcome by others. Satan knows our weaknesses, what one isn't tempted by, another falls for hook, line, and sinker.

Thank God for II Corinthians 10:1-5 and that the weapons of our warefare aren't carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.

And deliverance is the childrens bread...
