I'd be suprised if everyone here hasn't heard this but in case you haven't

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5TE99sAbwM

It starts at about the 30 sec mark.

Someone else I read on the internet did some research and says it is not true.

My take on it is that it makes perfect sense. The entire carribean area is prospering. The other half of the island is prospering. Tourism is booming. Except for Haiti. They haven't any tourism. They can't seem to keep a government. Violence is endemic. One of the former leaders Papa Doc/ Baby Doc were steeped in Voodoo. etc.

The media is full of course with condemnation of Robertson. I don't particularly like the guy but I think he is right here.

Something like this could easily be repudiated but it would require the churches to gather together and take authority

I don't agree with a lot of what Pat Robertson does and says either, but there does seem to be some validity to what he says about Haiti. Irregardless, there is much suffering and death there...over 111,000 confirmed dead and probably that many more still buried in the rubble.

Is it God's judgement? Do they deserve it? According to some it's because their ancestors made a 'deal' with the devil. I don't know, but I can't help but wonder if there'll come a time when another 'godly nation' is wondering the same about America. I can't imagine the magnitude of their sins surpassing those of The United States of America. What about when Katrina hit New Orleans? They sure were/are steeped in voodoo and the occult down there. 9/11? What will be the devastation in America when God pours out His wrath for all the innocent blood that's been shed in the name of 'our rights and freedoms'?

Something Robertson said that bears repeating, "People may not want to talk about it..." I'm thinking people in this country need to take a good long look in the mirror.

Just thinking out loud...

I would agree with you. the difference though is that in Haiti their leaders did it for them. In America (Canada) it is our own sin that is going to bring judgment.

There are several places in the bible where entire nations were conquered by other nations as a result of witchcraft. It says clearly that both Babylon and Assyria conquered by means of their occult arts. Nahum 3/4 & other places

It says in Rev 18/23 that future Babylon will do the same thing
"By your sorcery the nations were deceived"
The entire world being given over to the antichrist is not going to happen by judicial fiat from God.

This is a very deep subject and as far as I am aware it has not been taught anywhere in the charismatic world let alone the faith message.

Since this thread was about Haiti I thought I would include this comment by a (mostly) conservative Commentator. From a purely practical point of view I thought it made a lot of sense.

That's an informative article, Mark. I know someone who has a family member that's a missionary (Baptist) and they said that what little religion there is in Haiti is mostly Catholic. Also I agree with the commentator, they definitely need a stable government...That probably won't happen, though it is the only thing that does make sense for them to ever have any future apart from dire poverty.

I used to buy and sell sports memorabilia and almost all baseballs used throughout the world(including MLB) are made in Haiti. I haven't heard if the baseball factories were damaged, but if they were to the point they couldn't produce baseballs, it could impact the game. How trivial is that? But some people will be more concerned about that than the destruction and loss of human life.
