I didn't want to clutter the bulletin board with replies, but this verse you quoted is really awesome!

Quote:

Psalms 119:49-50 "Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

This IS my comfort in my affliction: for Thy Word hath quickened me."

It really highlights God's Grace to us... in the beginning was His word; He quickens that word to us; we respond by placing our hope in that word; that word gives us the comfort we need in the midst of our trials.

Oh how He loves you and me (isn't there a song with that line?).

Blessings,
William

I want to believe!

Well if there isn't it wouldn't be too hard to add it into one... Smile

I'm not as eloquent in expressing what's in my heart as I'd like to be, but when God reveals His Word unto us, and we, by His GRACE, are allowed to 'experience' His FAITHFULNESS to do exactly what He promises to do...it is awesome. Especially knowing how undeserving of His love we are.(and there are songs about the awesomeness of God. Amen.)

btw: That Word promises more than healing and health; deliverance from ALL our afflictions is included...but at the same time we know from that same Word that there are times where it is needful for us to experience trials and tribulations, but the hope He has given us teaches us that even then He is faithful to deliver us...thus..."This is my comfort in my affliction: for Thy Word hath quickened me."

24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

This verse really ministered to me this morning. If anyone serves Jesus the Father will honor him.

What a blessing.

Deuteronomy 29:2-4

2 Now Moses called all Israel and said to them: “You have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land— 3 the great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders.

4 Yet the Lord has not given you a heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear, to this very day.

This statement is found all through the Bible, sobering to say the least. After all the great wonders that took place before their eyes.

Well I just wanted to stop by an say Hi. Time to move on, Glad to hear you are all doing well. It seems like the older you get the faster time fly's.

Keep looking up your redemption is drawing nigh.

In Him,
Gary

In II Corinthians 4:4 we're told by Paul that another way spiritual blindness comes is from Satan, the god of this world. But it seems the 'open door' or reason it's allowed is due to unbelief, which we see throughout the OT in reference to Israel.

The more I meditate upon the Love of God and see His sovereignty displayed all around, both today as well as in Biblical times, I can only come up with one response, "Thank You Jesus"...

There has never been, nor will ever be, anything within me worthy enough for the sacrifice paid for me..G-R-A-C-E and Grace alone has opened my eyes and allowed me to see.

Hallowed is His Name in heaven, soon it will be so on earth, EVERY knee shall bow and EVERY tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is LORD.

I was found by those who did not seek Me; I was made manifest to those who did not ask for Me.

What a blessing!

In Him,
Gary

Jer. 9:24 But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising loving kindness, judgement, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight, says the Lord.

Deut. 18:15  The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
Deut. 18:16  According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

Deut. 18:17  And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
Deut. 18:18  I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
Deut. 18:19  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

The Words of Jesus are Life to all that find them.

In Him
Gary

Our pastor, Matt Mason, started a 16 week sermon series from the book of John titled, BELIEVE today. Something he pointed out was just how quickly John got straight to the point, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Matthew starts with the lineage from Abraham to Jesus. Luke traces Jesus' genealogy back all the way to Adam and then God. But John jumped right into it, Jesus IS God and always has been, He was there in the beginning with God and He created everything. Deep theological truths right from the first verse. I look forward to this study of God's Word.

James,

I did not realize but John's gospel only gave details on the last year of the Lord's ministry, maybe this is why he did not cover the genealogies. I'm going through Mark's gospel now.

I have come to really appreciate the Gospel of John. I am seeing an intertwining of all the messages pointing to Jesus culminating in where we find ourselves today.

In Him,
Gary
