I just wanted to say hello. I found this forum from a link on Tom McLaughlin's Tomax website.

I have listened to messages from Bro Freeman since 1981 and am in contact now and then with Joe Breneman.

Very Happy

I initially set up the pages for the Faith Assembly website with details of the tapes & books. Joe has done a sterling job in taking it over and improving it.

I am the worship leader at Faithful Christian Assembly in Dartford, Kent. We are a small group of about 30 people mainly consisting of 5 families.

God has blessed us with the exclusive use of a small gospel hall which can seat 100 people. We have had to do some re-modeling work but the rent is only $30 per month and has been that amount for over 10 years. Most places are $100 per week just for Sunday ! So you can see the Lord's hand in this.

Currently, we have been receiving video messages from Tom Hamilton in Kentucky. I am in contact Scott Richardson who leads the worship at Shelbyville Christian Assembly.

Well... it would be a blessing to hear from anyone who might remember me. In the 80s, we had numerous ministers from Faith Assembly come over for seminars in the UK - Bruce Kinsey, Steve Hill, Jerry Irvin etc.

In the 90s, we had James Oswalt come over periodically to our meetings to teach. It was tragic to see him give it all up and the Body in Birmingham Alabama fold up.

Welcome to the forum, Martin!

During the eighties, I remember many of the ministers travelling overseas, it was an exciting time. Wasn't Stan Hill invited at one time to pastor an assembly in England?

Did you ever visit the states?

Hi William,

Well I remember Bro Stan coming over for a seminar one time. He preached about 3 messages. I recall him visiting the church at Abbey Wood where I was a member. Brian Coupland was the pastor. It doesnt ring a bell about Stan Hill being invited to pastor an Assembly in the UK. I will have to ask another brother at my church if he remembers.

I have been to the US several times. In 82 I stayed at the trailer park while visiting FA. We had a BBQ with the Romans family.

In 89 I went to the Paul Cain conference in Indianapolis and visited Jeff Barnett's old assembly at Acton where Gary Wilson was assistant pastor. I remember it was very cold. I also went to see my good friend Tom Gautschi up in Wabash.

In the 90s I twice visited James Oswalt's assembly in Alabama. Ron Ford was assistant pastor at the time. Mike Lane was worship leader. It was a blessing going to their meetings. Mike wrote some blessed choruses. Sad to see the assembly fold up. I have lost touch with people there.

Martin,
I am sure that I met you at one time or another. My family lived in a "modified" double-wide trailer right across the street from the trailer park. The Roman's son, Bobby Deal, was one of my best friends growing up.

In addition, if you came to the fellowship in Bham, then you knew my grandmother. Her name was Gay Thomas. She went to be with the Lord in 1998. As for Jim Oswalt, it was a terrible shame that happened. He is still around Bham, and I heard he was preaching some again at a local Church of God assembly.

Before I go, let me ask you about another lady from England. When I was a kid, my father, Joe Duncan, made a recording of Lois Buckley singing. I remember that she had a lovely voice. I would guess that she is now in her late 50s or early 60s. Would you happen to know her and what ever became of her?

William,

I checked with another brother in our church. Brother Stan Hill had more dealing with the assemblies in Switzerland. Maybe it was here that the offer was made to pastor a church. The message he taught in England was on the levels of faith. He had just suffered a stroke a short while before but he continued to minister faithfully. He was a dear brother.

Maybe we did meet at FA. It was a long time ago. I would have been 22 years old in 1982. I remember sister Dorothy on the trailer park. She was a very discerning lady.

Yes I do remember your grandmother, sister Gay Thomas. I believe that we shared a fellowship meal with her and some other believers at Overcomers Assembly back in 1994. She was a sweet lady.

As for Lois, I haven't heard from her since the 80s. I do remember her at the English seminars. She played the piano beautifully and yes her singing was a real blessing.
