Hello there. I am Justin Stech (Glenn and Rebecca Stech's oldest son). I have recently started a group on Facebook (Children of FA) for people who used to go to Faith Assembly/grew up there...

I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of the building, inside or out.

I also just wanted to send a greeting to everyone. I know many of you knew my parents.

Welcome, Justin!

We lived across the street from the Nei's mobile home park and knew your parents well. Isn't your mother's father Herb Romans? Do you know what ever happened to his stepkids, Bobby and Jimmy Deal? Bobby and I were best friends growing up, but I have not heard from him in about 7 or 8 years.

As for pictures, I know that there are a couple of pictures over on the Tomax site. My parents have some pictures of the building being built, because my dad supervised the construction since he was a civil engineer.

Have a great day!

Yes, my grandfather is Herb. I haven't heard from Uncle Bobby in a long time either, though last I heard he was driving truck. My Uncle Jimmy lives in Wisconson.

I did find the pictures on the Tomax website. Thanks so much!

Justin,

Speaking of pictures, I was over at my parents this weekend, and my mother found some pictures of my brother's 21st birthday party in Indiana. In these pictures, were pictures of your parents (you dad had some long sideburns in those days.) Also at the birthday party, were pictures of the following people (who you may or may not know/remember):

Beth - the FA drummer (I can't remember her last name)

Jim, Ruth Ann, Jeff and Tammy Oswalt (Jim had on baby blue pants with a wide white belt - he used to wear that belt all the time)

The guy that played the organ at FA along with my brother

Caroline - one of the piano players at FA (can't remember her last name, either)

Lois Buckley - singer and piano player from England

+ a bunch of other people that I recognized, but couldn't remember their names.

Great to hear from you again,
Duncan

Oh wow, if there is any way you could scan some of those in, it would be amazing to see. People say I look just like my dad when he was around my age. I also love to see the clothes styles from back then as they compare to now... what a brilliant thing!

Justin,
Let me see what I can do on the picture.

Also, I have a couple of good Glenn Stech stories for you.

Before I begin, it occurred to me last night that I was at your parents wedding. As I recall (I was just a kid at the time), it was outside on the hill at the end of the trailer park. It was a beautiful day, and I think that the wedding turned into an all-afternoon worship service.

Story #1:

Your dad showed up at our house one winter day to see if my brother wanted to jog around the block. The snow was about a foot deep, but my brother said OK. Unfortunately, my brother didn't realize that "around the block" was about 4 miles. He almost didn't make it.

Story #2:

One of the joys of FA was that we were all like one big family (especially since we didn't associate with the world). Because of this family attitude, your dad would always walk on into someone's house without knocking. My family liked your dad, so it never bothered them. However, on one occasion, your dad happened to walk in while my mother was in her undergarments. Needless to say, I think your dad was more embarrassed than my mother, and that cured him of walking into a house without knocking.

Have a great day!

Oh, that's great. The funny thing is that I can definetly see my dad doing just that... I love it. It's good to hear stories like that.

I have seen many wedding pictures. It looks like it proved to be quite an event. I just hope that someday if God chooses to give me a bride, that we can have as awesome of a wedding. If I remember hearing correctly, it seemed at one point that a storm was going to ensue, but that everyone prayed and God moved it away...

So many memories of the trailer court...

Justin,

My best memory of the trailer court was when your uncle Bobby and I would jump our BMX bikes against the little dirt curb by the mailboxes. We would come flying down the trailer court road and hit the edge of that dirt. I'm sure there were times when we got as high as 6 feet.

Also, I built a little fort in the little strip of pine trees in the field directly in front of where you lived. I don't know if it lasted, but I think it was there for many years.

If you go the www.facebook.com
and log in, you'll see on the left hand side a link for 'groups.'
Click it and when the page loads, there'll be a search bar. Type Children of FA in and it should be the first search result. The group photo is of the inside of the main sanctuary during a love feast.

Also, don't forget to search for me, Justin Gerald Stech, and add me as a friend.

See you there!

Wow, Where does Glen live now?
My memory of your dad is in the men's prayer meeting at the Glory Barn. There was a small group there dancing away, I especially think of Glen dancing heartily, and in walks Mel Tari unannounced and joins us in the dance line. Back in the 1970's'
having Mel Tari join you was almost the same as having Jesus walk through the door. I'll never forget it.

That's shows you that something special was going on there in the middle of the corn fields.

Possibly the most famous Christian in the world came to visit.

Well, my family lives in the exact same spot it's always lived... in the old 'FA Trailer Park' although it's not that Faith Assemblyish anymore...

I have to be honest, I don't recognize that name, but from the sounds of things, there were a good number of people with big names around, or those who became famous later on...

as my father has always told me, if I ever meet Ray Bolts, I am supposed to ask him if he remembers 'Captin Zebra', my father's nickname back in the GB days...

What church group are they and you a part of now?

Mel Tari was from Timor in Indonesia and was written about in "Like A Mighty Wind", the great revival there. Signs and wonders and walking on water occured there. He is still alive.

I should have added that Glen was the one who walked up to him and found out who he was when he walked in the door and brought him over to the group dancing.

I tried getting on facebook but I guess you have to register, and didn't feel like doing it for the millionth time.

I think I have some pictures in my shed. I know I have one of me and my mom standing in line at the GB to get in.

One winter we stood in line at -20 at 5Am in the morning. Of course Jim Oswalt was always first in line.
