So many seem to not know what God`s will is in there life.

1Th 5:18 In (everything) give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Maybe, just maybe if we got this concept down in our life, believe

it and live it there would be no question of what Gods will in our life is.

Rather then question "Why is this happening in my life" He said in (everything)give thanks.

I don't know If I can give thanks for everything but I can say I have stopped complaining. I know what God's will is for me and I'm walking it out in my life. I don't mean here to say everything is a burden either.

I have learned (heart knowledge) in whatever circumstances I am in to not complain and remind myself to be grateful for being saved. Sometimes that means putting my head down and just forcing myself to shut up and get quiet but I can do it.

Now that I think about it its actually encouraging to me because I can look back and see a definite work has been done in my life.

Not to nit-pick, but there is a big difference between giving thanks FOR every thing, and giving thanks IN every thing. It says to give thank in every thing, not for every thing.(some might say it's just the wording, but see if this gives a different light on the scripture and how it may be understood)

Regardless of what we encounter or go through 'in' this life, we're to remember that God works all things to our good (if we love Him), and also that it's through much/many trials and tribulations (Acts 14:22) that we enter into The Kingdom. The trying of our faith works patience (James 1:1-8) and is Gods' way of bringing us into perfection.(if we'll yeild to Him)

I believe, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, that sickness isn't 'from' God, but He sometimes allows it so we can learn to exercise faith, trusting Him alone, to see His healing power (sometimes it is used to reveal what's in our hearts, whether or not true faith exist within), and also He allows sickness as a way of getting our attention/correction (chastisment) when we've taken our eyes off Him. We're not to attribute it or charge Him for the sickness, nor THANK Him FOR it, but while we're IN it (sickness, or any other adversity we encounter), we're instructed to give thanks, for this IS the will of God.

added as an after thought:

It goes without saying that we should be giving Him thanks IN the midst of 'good' times. We've heard the saying that it's easy to praise and thank Him while we're on the mountain top, but much tougher while in the valley of despair. But many people don't even stop to give thanks when things are going well, much less when they find themselves facing adversity.

I'm not calling you 'out' Mark, I'm sure you already know and understand this principle...just sharing to encourage anyone who might not understand what the scripture means.

Well...I believe I do know one thing. Rolling Eyes If there is a group of people anywhere who know the difference between PTL for or in circumstances, if would have to be us. Laughing

Thanks Hardbones and James. Seriously though. How many out there were taught to give thanks when they should be taking stance, not accepting a circumstance, and fighting with the Word, the Blood, and loving not your life unto death?

I am so very thankful for good teaching, learning where I stand after all of these years, and finding balance for me.

I also give thanks for OO and my brothers and sisters in Jesus everywhere. Very Happy

Shalom,

GWB
