Need help with a word in Bancroft's Theology [message #5311]

Hey, if any of you have a copy of Bancroft's Theology, I need help. Under
Anthropology-The Essential Elements of Man-General Statement-note
section-forth paragraph... it says:

The spirit of man had nothing to do with the formation of its she??n.

I cannot figure out what the word is... my copy is missing two letters and
it isn't obvious to me from the context what the word is.

Anyone got a better copy?

Hey William,

I recently picked up a hardback copy of Bancroft's Christian Theology,(for $2) I think written about 1929ish with this edition being a 70's edition. Is this the same book you're refering to and a resource that HEF used or endorsed?

I was just reading it and it seems very much like what HEF taught, as best my memory recalls...Is there anything questionable I should be on the watch for? I was reading today on Angelogy??? Angels, Demons, and Satan. I was thinking about condensing some of the stuff on angels and put it on here since several of us seems to be lacking in our knowledge of angels.lol(me and Gary) Don't hold your breath, it may be a while before I do it, if I do, due to the sometimes limited access to the computer.

This is hilarious, I thought I sent this as a PM to William and when I saw the last post was concerning "Bancroft's Theology" I cracked up. I still don't know how I did it...Can anyone spell "autopilot"...lol

Next thing you'll be telling us is that you went out and found the book just so you could answer my question (before you read the replies!)<grin>

Yes, brother Freeman did give a nod to Bancroft's Theology. He named a few other conservative authors/commentaries but always with the caveat that they weren't always right!

I have (although I can't find one of them right now) two different editions of Bancroft's. One is probably the 70s edition that you mentioned but the other one is in outline form. I don't mean 'outline' as in 'broad overview', I mean the whole book (presumably everything contained in the 70s edition) is in outline form. I like it!
