I think this subject belongs in this section. If not let me know.

I have been challenged lately to consider why we no longer celebrate the feasts presented in the OT.

I was very quick to tell someone that I was no longer under the Law. Being curious, I started studying them for myself. I believe the last three feasts are related to prophecies which have not been fulfilled. If the Jewish people are celebrating a feast related to His return, Feast of Trumpets, why don't we as Christians do the same?

I do understand that by celebrating a particular day, or works, does not get me into heavon.

Blessings, GWB

GWB,
I could be wrong on this. I do not remember at this point about all the feasts. I think when the Jews were celebrating their feast for the return of Yahweh, to deliver them, they did not recognize when He came, in the person of Jesus. Even though we know He is going to return again the feast mentioned in the Old Testament is for His return that has already happened.

It is interesting though that Paul is teaching on sexual immorality and in the middle of his teaching he says in, I Cor.5:7b-8 "For indeed Christ our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleaven bread of sincerity and truth." Then he continues his message.

I think some Christian Jewish groups still celebrate some of the feasts. I do think; Paul and some of the Jewish believers in the New Testament also kept certain feasts. But I do not believe it was required of the Gentile believers. Thats not to say there is anything wrong with it. I know when we have communion it is in remembrance of the Lord.

I am not saying it would be wrong to participate in the feasts, But I do not know for sure on this, we are free in Christ.

Gary

I was invited yesterday to go to the next feast celebration at a Messianic meeting. I am not even sure which feast it is right now. I now think I will go, keep my ears on real good, be careful, and let you all know how it went!

Hey Hombre,

Thanks for the warning. I will be very careful not to overindulge. From what I understand, they are about more than eating. I guess I will not know until I go and find out more.

I will not be able to go to the next feast due to our moving. I was looking forward to going. Sad

The person who told me about it said they operate in the gifts and that the worship is awesome. Well, yes, I am spoiled from FA, but it could be something really neat. I do miss praise and worship; there has been nothing like it since FA.

I think they also dance Jewish dances while praising Him. I will just have to go to one and see what it is all about. I will be sure to let you all know when I do for feedback from "the boys." Very Happy Cool
