I had a few further thoughts on the Gog war.
The original prophecy that came out of God turning the clock back refers as I have said to the holding back of the Gog war. (see Eschatology forum below) The original word from the Lord was to give us time to prepare. I think that is as valid today as it was then.
Also the prayers of Gods people have always had a major effect on the world and world events. Especially prayer in tongues. I think the bridegroom delaying his coming and the holding back of the Gog war are the direct result of the prayers of Gods people around the world. The Gog war will be an earth shaking event. Changing the course of history for the whole world and setting the stage for the return of Christ. I believe it is on the horizon but still being held back by the prayers of the church around the world.
In light of that I have something else I want to say and maybe I'm shouting into the wind here but I don't think so. I recently spoke to two couples who enjoy traveling and encouraged them both to take a trip to Israel. Neither said much but we could see the fear on their face.
When God acts in some way in the world he doesn't leave anything to chance and he takes care of even the small details. The safety and care of his people is not a small detail. A huge proportion of the tourism in Israel is Christian tourists, travelers and pilgrims. Tens of thousands every year. It is inconceivable to me that he would allow the Gog war to go forward with no warning and fall on the heads of his own people. The care and safety of his people is not a small issue.
I don't know how the lead-up to this war is going to play out. I do know the church will not be caught by surprise. Surely the Lord God does nothing but he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets. Amos 3/7 I'm not claiming to be a prophet. I'm just saying as the time grows near the church will be aware. Now that I am retired I am planning another trip to Israel. For a month this time. If you have a desire to go then just go. Ask the Lord to help.

I guess by now everyone has seen the unfolding tragedy in Israel. I had been planning all year to go to Israel this fall. I was really looking forward to it. I've been several times but my wife has never been. Then in about July the Lord had me cancel the plans for this year. It was disappointing. Now I know why he changed our plans. If plans had gone forward I would have been in east Jerusalem when it started.
I'm still planning on going either in the spring or next fall. God willing! I'm not going to live my life in fear of trouble in the world or endtime events. The only safe place in this world (for me or my family) is in the center of God's will. I plan on staying there. Where ever in the world I am!
For whatever my opinion is worth I think the events this weekend in Israel are just the still faint far off rumblings and thunders of the war of Gog and Magog and the moving forward of endtime events.
