Oh there's power wonder working power, as the old song goes.

I was thinking about this subject on "Pleading the Blood of Jesus" in time of need.

Someone recently mentioned its not scriptural and people are deceived who practice such things.

I was reminded of the time when God told them to sacrifice a lamb and then to paint the blood on the doorposts of their house for protection against the destroyer as he walked through the land. This lamb was a type of Christ.

I also remembered a testimony of a lady who said, she was in a parking garage all alone late one night and was loading some items in her car. A man came up behind her with ill intentions and when she turned around she was startled that he was coming in her direction as no cars were parked near her. She started to Plead the Blood of Jesus over and over. The man immediately stopped and then turned and ran off into the darkness.

I have heard many other testimonies of God's deliverance and protection as well. I have read where people prayed for someones deliverance and demon spirits react violently and manifest when the Blood of Jesus is mentioned.

Just a coincidence! I don't think so, there is power in the Blood of Jesus Christ to deliver, protect, heal, and set us free.

Thinking about this whole situation, I know it in my heart but I cannot recall any scripture in the New Testament that validates this practice.

I don't know how others feel about this teaching/doctrine but for now unless the Lord shows otherwise I still hold to Pleading the Blood of Jesus.

Gary,

I answered Tom with this same scripture (Exodus 12:13)and example in message #9580 on Thursday, June 20, 2013 under the thread about "What is the Biblical meaning of the word faith" to his assertion that pleading The Blood of Jesus wasn't NT and was therefore invalid(along with a list of other practices he didn't agree with...'taught by man').

There are many testimonies and examples of people being delivered from various situations when 'pleading The Blood of Jesus'...and I've heard where just crying out the name, "Jesus" saved people from whatever was coming against them. It's not a ritual or 'saying', it's releasing faith in Him, Jesus and what the shedding of His Blood bought for those born again...salvation, deliverance, healing, provision, protection, restoration, reconciliation to God, ect.

James,

I really believe there are some things that are spiritually discerned by the Holy Spirit in us. It's the scriptures plus what you shared a while back about relationship.

It's possible to get caught up in the letter of the Word and miss the whole point. This is what happened to the Pharisees they could not see who Jesus was because He broke the sabbath and other OT practices that they held to.

I keep running into this phrase; seeing they see but cannot see and hearing they hear but cannot hear. If you look closely its all through the NT.

1 Corinthians 2:12
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

Revelation 2:11
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”’

These are more beliefs, taught by men, which are not found anywhere in the New Testament:

“The Fresh Bread from Heaven”/“The New Word of God”,

I don't think its wrong to make a statement concerning scripture and add some word to describe its meaning, for instance, to say "Grace is amazing" is a "fact" but we cannot find this statement in scripture.
