I don't know if anyone is familiar with Iridology or not, but a new 'shop' just opened near my place of business and along with herbal products and homeopathic remedies they advertise that they use Iridology to diagnose heath problems. I wasn't sure what the word meant until I asked someone and was told it was basically the 'reading' of the eyes to determine what a person's health problems were.(Of course I was assured that it was just an alternative to medical science and a gift from God just like the way God gives the doctors their 'gifts'.)

I believe it's roots are in the occult and is a form of divination, I didn't get that from a book or the Internet, I believe The Holy Spirit revealed it to me. I'd like to share an experience I had with Iridology a few years ago(I didn't know it by that term then, I just knew they were 'reading eyes).

In 2003 I started attending a 'charismatic' church after being out of church for 13 years (I won't go into all the problems I ran into soon after joining, I'll just stick with this one problem) The pastor introduced a man to the assembly who was supposed to have the gift of healing and used all natural products. Herbs(no, not marijuana), natural supplements, and vitamins AND, he determined what a person needed based on what he could 'see' in their eyes. He set up appointments with almost all the adult members of the church to do this. I went to the pastor and told him this was not of The Lord and was an open door to the occult, he just told me I needed to get free of HEF's teachings.

Well everyone jumped on board and had the 'readings' and ordered the products(everyone had some type of deficiency and 'needed' to order from him at least a few hundred dollars worth of stuff) I didn't allow him to schedule me, although he approached me several times about it. I just told him I didn't believe it was from God and that I was in perfect health and didn't need his diagnosis.

From the time this happen things began to go downhill fast, within a couple of months the church closed and the people left wondering what happened. I don't know if it could be attributed to this alone or all the other problems that existed there, but it didn't seem to be a coincidence to me.

Anyone else have any experiences or knowledge of Iridology, or a different opinion concerning it?

James,

This is the first time I have read this post and it is the first time I have heard of this iridology.

Anyway I'm glad you resisted this occultic practice. Many Christians today are suffering some form of oppression because of open doors to the occult.

It used to be very popular among the Amish when I lived up north and I was going to FA.

It is a scam to me. Everyone walks away with bags full of vitamins.

You could probably take a Gummy Vitamin and it would do the same thing!

Lol

GWB,

I work around a lot of Amish, I find them very interesting. I recently was working with an Amish man who was driving a vehicle. I asked him if he was Amish because I thought he may have been Mennonite.

He told me he was a Messianic Jew. I was totally shocked. His kids all looked Amish as well.

Most of the younger Amish are departing from the horse and buggy days, at least in our area.

That is surprising!

I don't think the Amish celebrate the pagan holidays.

The feasts are biblical and prophetic. I could see this aspect as to why they would appreciate Messianic Judaism.

I know that I have learned a lot about Israel through this movement. It puts many of the pieces of the puzzle together for me. I appreciate Israel more all of the time.

The more I live, I appreciate FA more, too. Smile

Another Amish looking guy was Messianic as well, told me he thought Halloween was demonic.

I did not know they did not celebrate the holidays though.

The one man did tell me he was studying the Hebrew roots movement and this is why he is involved.

From what I heard the Hebrew Roots movement is trying to get gentiles to go back under the law. It starts out with celebrating Jewish feast days and then before you know it they want everyone to keep the Sabbath, and other Jewish practices.

I don't know much about this movement only heard bits and pieces but I don't know if its of the Lord, even though it sounds ultra spiritual, we have been delivered from the Jewish law, which no man was able to keep anyway.

I don't know if the Hebrew roots movement is Biblical, but from what I heard it is something a Christian would want to avoid. Besides those feasts were for the Jews and not a requirement for gentile believers.

I can understand why you would feel this way.

With the FA teaching, I don't have a problem with it. Some have become legalistic.

It is good to know that I am free in Jesus! Smile
