Greetings,
I am thinking of trying to write a novel that would demonstrate
different examples of how young people find each other - in Christian ways.
My novel would be a "romance" novel for young believers. A
romance novel is basically a "girl finds her guy and lives
happily ever after" story. Of course this could go in a very
worldly direction but what I envision is a group of girls
who find their spouses in wholesome Christian ways.
My goal would be to of course entertain, but also to show young people
examples of wholesome Christian courtship as well as a wholesome church
atmosphere.
I envision the girls in the novel wrestling with questions like
young girls do, maybe briefly "missing it" and then succeeding.
Since I am an almost 60 year old guy I need a little help to understand
how courtship-aged girls think.
So I figure that the courtship examples of our people would give me
good ideas for my characters in the novel.
==================
So here are my questions:
What were the theological beliefs in the various churches regarding:
Dating
kissing
holding hands
teenagers at home versus young adults living on their own
two people parking alone - or dating alone
going on trips together – camping, to faraway churches
how to identify the spouse as the right one
faith versus acting on your faith to make the courtship begin/continue
positive confession versus embarrassing the other person
"the gift"of celibacy – any examples where someone contentedly had it?
more?
What are some testimonies, neat stories, about how people found each other?
What are some testimonies of ethical questions you had to deal with back in the day?
Kissing? Telling your friends? Maintaining submission to your parents? more?
I found this link on the board but it is short..

Ant ideas of lessons that it would be good for young female believers to know as
they come into courtship age??

Just wondering, why on earth would you, a male senior citizen, decide to write a 'christian novel' from young girls viewpoint? You'd think it'd be hard enough to write it from young men of this generation's viewpoint...You must have some 'grand-girls' you wanta influence.
If you aren't careful, someone might make your book into the 'law on relationships' and then you know what happens...you're under the microscope...Be sure not to say anything about what God might reveal to you, someday somebody might look back and say ..."it was all just Jman's revelation".
At the time of this post...
FA, and the FA diaspora people (and their children and grandchildren)
have been having to live life without a 'how to pick a mate'
and a 'dating guide novel' for
40 years and 16 days.
what a novel idea, a christian novel on finding love...should sell like hotcakes.
Just kidding jman, send William a rough draft and he'll proof read it to his grandkids...

Hi James,
You wrote

If it were easy then it wouldn't be any fun.
==============================
I want people to feel comfortable posting their personal testimonies
in this thread.
So I am declaring that this thread is a "criticism free zone"
and no one is allowed to criticize or mock people if/when
they post what they remember, experienced, or believe.
For most sisters the testimony of how God gave them their man
is their favorite testimony. So come on let's hear them.
You are in a criticism free zone so post away

First you need to write a historical manual. You could cover the arranged marriages (I pick'em) of OT days to the now dated -- U pick'em of my generation and finally the ePick'em method that has come about as a result of the Internet.
Our Journey from Arranged to Strange by J(the matchmaking)man...it might be a best-seller!
Blessings,
William

I never did "get" what that was all about, but if he is ever on the New York Times Bestselling list I'm going to start on my fictional book titled " The Power of an Imagined Threat " with the foreword by Hombre.

Cantankerous? Never!
Old? I'm trying to do that gracefully...
But 1 Peter 1:13 keeps reigning me in regardless of my tendency to be a smarty pants
