I`m kinda confused William. This is what you stated when you started this board.
Yet earlier today there was a post that said" This is overcomers on line, Not HEF on line". So my question is do we not defend HEF when we feel there should or could be some defense needed, or is this something only certain people can do?

Well, I don't see much lacking in the defense of HEF, but to be totally accurate I don't think that we qualify as an HEF Only crowd.
At the beginning I made the decision that we would be better served if this board was not simply limited to all things HEF.
If I had wanted to do so, I could have used and made the focus of the site our other domain name: hobartfreeman.com
I didn't do this for the reasons that have already been expressed. To be a bit gushy, I love Hobart Freeman, and have a high regard for the things he taught... but, if you've done much reading on here, you know that I haven't hidden the fact that I don't necessarily follow everything that was taught. (Look no further than my notes on divorce to see what I mean.) I say that with full knowledge that in the eyes of some, I have departed from the faith by taking that position.
To save time, and to keep some from being seduced, let me list a few areas of disagreements: (It sounds strange to say that with my meager educational achievements compared to the stellar qualifications of Brother Freeman... I hope none will assume that I think I'm more qualified to teach or have reached a higher plane than he... I don't. My *only* point is that I have personally reached some different conclusions in these areas.)
Divorce and remarriage
Headcovering
Gifts (given to all, women included)
Women wearing pants
Tee shirt messages
TV (I have one)
Tennis shoes
Glasses for the masses!
Box mixes for the multitudes!
Microwave ovens (I believe in 'em)
Education for the erudite (I don't really believe HEF taught against this!)
Of these only the first three can be construed as doctrinal; the second and third (headcovering and gifts) stem from my understanding concerning the cultural issues in NT times. In other words, I don't discount the biblical teachings in these two areas, I interpret them differently than we did in the 80's. You might not agree with me but please don't jump to unfounded conclusions that aren't warranted... at least give me a hearing before pronouncing me a heretic!
Blessings,
William
