I don't know what denomination Moody was affiliated with but I have been reading his book with the collection of his sermons.

I think he does a fine job of pointing out different attitudes and character traits of Old Testament Men of God. For instance, Abraham could of chosen the best of the land but instead he told Lot if you choose the land on the left I will go right, or if you choose the land on the right I will go left.

I never had thought at looking at these men's lives in the way Moody presents them.

Nehemiah was another good example, but as he continues his sermon he starts laying down rules and regulations that would make a person a better Christian using Nehemiah as an example.

I thought if I posted this chapter on the board it could be easily called hardcore legalism. While reading his interpretation of the old testament, many things sounded right, I almost thought he was saying; that one should keep the law.

There is a fine line concerning what is called obedience to God and what is stepping over the line and putting oneself under the law.

In the epistles, the Apostles commended people who keep the traditions that were presented to the different churches. There are some traditions that Christians are told to keep.

But after reading Moody I think I see a trend that started in different Christian circles that is still carried out till this very day.

Is it possible to have a church patterned entirely after the New Testament Church? If that's the case would every one sell everything they owned and give it to the ministry?

This is hard to put in word's considering someone could read into it; but the church that rises up at the end of the age while keeping the precepts of the New Testament may not look like the New Testament church at all, If that is possible.

At least what we think the New Testament church should look like, this is considering that it may look entirely different from what we think it should look like. If you understand what I mean here.

Anyway after reading some of the chapters I can see where the church world has formed into all the traditional churches which practice legalism and associate it with obeying God.

At least its something to think about.
