In the Hebrew language there are 27 or more words to describe sorrow. In Isa. 53:4 Jesus carried our sorrows and not our sins. He
forgave our sins. If we understand that is in the plural--sorrows, that would be taking the place of our punishment.
2 Sam. 22:5 look at v.3-4. They show us a description of v.5. saved from violence and enemies. Then in v.5 the figure of sorrows being floods and sheol. (hell). Isa. 59: 19 The enemy comes in like a flood the Spirit of God raises a standard against him. see Rev. 12:15-16 it shows how Satan is termed as sending a flood.
To a Hebrew sorrow covered a lot of things, and they spent much time seeking the joy and face of God. They actually saw sorrow as a place of Hell. only you were not there. God would give them by their faith ability to maintain continual joy if obey his law and words.
That is the key. always seeking God personally and pleasing him. We all are striving to read books to teach us truth but we also must walk in the light of them.
faith-- forsake all I trust him. Baal-- believe apostacy all lost. bible-- believe in bible life eternal.
