Thanksgiving.

We are fast approaching the day that the printers of Hallmark cards, the growers of turkeys, cranberries, yams, pumpkins and what ever else that is associated with this Holiday entails I suppose are thank full for because it means they are selling their wares in high volume.

I suppose also those of us that are super spiritual (or so we think) are saying to ourselves, "I don't need a secular holiday to remind me to be thank full". Oh really.

As I reflected today in my studies of the Word I couldn't help but repent for how un thank full I really am. I or can I include others are very miserly in our thanks. Daniel in 6:10 kneeled and gave thank to God three times a day. I have to ask myself, when have I spent 1 solid min(60) seconds in solid prayer of thanks to God daily let alone three times a day. Most often we spend our time in prayer asking, asking and seldom thanking. Okay it`s just me that`s guilty, the rest of you all can be thank full your not like me.

Ps118:1 says give thanks to the Lord for He is good. He is a good God. He doesn't do evil even to the ungodly. He is incapable of doing evil.Ps139:14 I will praise (thank) thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. If anyone has made any inquiry into the function of the human body knows that there are enough jerms and microbes in our body to kill us but God has wonderfully made our body to repel and keep us healthy, and for that I thank Him.

Luke 17 is the account of the ten lepers that Jesus healed and yet only one returned to give Him thanks.V19 Jesus said arise thy faith hath made thee whole. I believe Jesus gave Him salvation because of his thanks. He was already healed.

1Tim2:1 says we are to give thanks for ALL men. That means even the ones that we arent especially fond of, after all we are to love even our enemies. Are we thankfull for all our wives do for us. Do we tell them. How about our children when they do good things. We are so quick to correct but so slow to show love and appreciation.

We owe a debt to the Lord for His sacrifice and for all His benefits. We owe thanks to other people.
The Bible says owe no man anything but to love one another. Do we pay our debts of thanksgiving to other people as well as the lord? I ask not that in condemnation but in honest reflection of the thanksgiving we should as children of the living Lord should have.

Great post Grandom,

Especially convicting is your reminder of Daniel's devotion. Methinks that you are more of a teacher than you give yourself credit for...

Blessings,
William
