I don't know if anyone is familiar with Iridology or not, but a new 'shop' just opened near my place of business and along with herbal products and homeopathic remedies they advertise that they use Iridology to diagnose heath problems. I wasn't sure what the word meant until I asked someone and was told it was basically the 'reading' of the eyes to determine what a person's health problems were.(Of course I was assured that it was just an alternative to medical science and a gift from God just like the way God gives the doctors their 'gifts'.)

I believe it's roots are in the occult and is a form of divination, I didn't get that from a book or the Internet, I believe The Holy Spirit revealed it to me. I'd like to share an experience I had with Iridology a few years ago(I didn't know it by that term then, I just knew they were 'reading eyes).

In 2003 I started attending a 'charismatic' church after being out of church for 13 years (I won't go into all the problems I ran into soon after joining, I'll just stick with this one problem) The pastor introduced a man to the assembly who was supposed to have the gift of healing and used all natural products. Herbs(no, not marijuana), natural supplements, and vitamins AND, he determined what a person needed based on what he could 'see' in their eyes. He set up appointments with almost all the adult members of the church to do this. I went to the pastor and told him this was not of The Lord and was an open door to the occult, he just told me I needed to get free of HEF's teachings.

Well everyone jumped on board and had the 'readings' and ordered the products(everyone had some type of deficiency and 'needed' to order from him at least a few hundred dollars worth of stuff) I didn't allow him to schedule me, although he approached me several times about it. I just told him I didn't believe it was from God and that I was in perfect health and didn't need his diagnosis.

From the time this happen things began to go downhill fast, within a couple of months the church closed and the people left wondering what happened. I don't know if it could be attributed to this alone or all the other problems that existed there, but it didn't seem to be a coincidence to me.

Anyone else have any experiences or knowledge of Iridology, or a different opinion concerning it?
