Pastor Robb Bell from Mars Hill has been at it again. He wrote a book about it. I haven't read the book and probably won't take the time but Christianity Today wrote a review. I've included 2 links to the same review in case anyone can't get one.

Here is a quote from the review of how the book begins . . .

As part of a series on peacemaking, in late 2007, Pastor Rob Bell's Mars Hill Bible Church put on an art exhibit about the search for peace in a broken world. It was just the kind of avant-garde project that had helped power Mars Hill's growth (the Michigan church attracts 7,000 people each Sunday) as a nontraditional congregation that emphasizes discussion rather than dogmatic teaching. An artist in the show had included a quotation from Mohandas Gandhi. Hardly a controversial touch, one would have thought. But one would have been wrong.

A visitor to the exhibit had stuck a note next to the Gandhi quotation: "Reality check: He's in hell." Bell was struck.

Really? he recalls thinking.

Gandhi's in hell?

He is?

We have confirmation of this?

Somebody knows this?

Without a doubt?

And that somebody decided to take on the responsibility of letting the rest of us know?

Maybe a better response in the note would have been, "Gandhi is still in his grave." You can't argue with that! Laughing ....or would they? Rolling Eyes Sad Very Happy

My thoughts on Rob Bell and his book can be found in the 'Rant/Rave' section under the thread titled, "The Last Days", message #7711.

Like mentioned in the thread on whether or not The God we worship and Allah are the same...and the move to bring everyone together, Muslims and Christian, for the sake of unity...

All part of Satan's attempt to deceive, whether it be false worship such as 'Earth Day' yesterday; or Peter Cottontail and Santa Claus; or a hip young preacher in Michigan teaching universalism; or the move to create a one world religion (remember the seed planted by John Lennon in the song 'Imagine')...All foretold by Jesus in His warning to us recorded in Matthew 24:24

But like you say Mark, that it's even being introduced and debated amongest Christians is a sign of the times, so few are grounded in The Word they honestly don't know what to believe.

“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,”

I finally got a chance to read your response to Robb Bells book James. I more or less agree with you but wanted to add some thoughts. Which I will do a little later when I've thought more about it.

Mark Noll wrote a review of the book. I tried to find it for my original note but couldn't so here it is.

Here is his most recent thoughts on the issue.
