Can anyone help find the scripture that talks about levels of heaven and levels of hell. I would also be interested knowing which teaching on tape that HF taught that had that subject. Thanks: David

Hi David,

The first example I think of that reflects different 'levels' of heaven or hell is in Luke 16:26. Here Abraham tells the rich man, who was in torments (in hades, I think), that there was a great gulf fixed between them, and they couldn't pass back and forth. This could be considered 'different levels'? Also II Corth. 12:4 speaks of a 'third heaven'.

I'm not sure what I remember about what Bro. Freeman taught on this subject. I don't think you are asking about different 'levels' of rewards given to those who God gives out for things done on earth, like good works, (there will be different 'levels' of these as mentioned in II Tim. 4:8 and I Corth. 3:12 as well as what is promised in Rev.22:12 ).

Maybe someone else can add their thoughts...

Hi David,

I think you are referring to hades/sheol, not heaven/hell.

Old testament references to "the lowest parts of the pit" and "the sides
of the pit" give one the impression that there are different "levels", but
if memory serves me, the teaching on the intermediate state (hades/sheol)
focused on the non-physical aspects of this realm/state, which would lead
us to conclude that such references were not actually meant to be taken
literally. Anyway, that was how I took it. I probably need to pull out
the theology book to make sure I got it right!

Blessings,
William

Thanks for the help. It has been a long time ago but I remember that Dr. Freeman came up with I think more than three of hell. I believe his references were from books like Deuteronomy, Numbers, etc. It set my youth group on their ear in 1978. Just wondered if any of you remembered. Thanks again.

Maybe it was 1) Sheol, then 2)the pit (where Satan is bound a thousand
years), and 3)the lake of fire?
