I don't know if anyone has used; ThePhotoStick, its a thumb drive with built in software. Plug it into your computer it will search all your files for your pictures and videos, and then records them on the thumb drive.

This thing is great, I had over 2000 pictures and did not want to lose them, this device tells you how many pictures you have and if there are any duplicates. They have one that will take photos off your cell phone as well. It will work on Mac or windows depending on what which one you buy.

I had to upgrade from windows 7 to a new computer with windows 10, I got the 128 gb which was probably overkill, I did not know if the 64 gb would hold all our pictures. I had to deal with cd disks, 6 or 7 thumb drives and did not know what was on them or if there was a lot of duplicate pictures.

I would highly recommend this thumb drive with the built in software if you need to move your pictures off the computer. I'm not much on sending everything out on the mysterious cloud or one drive in Microsoft.

Just thought I'd let you know if you need to store your pictures somewhere else, I feel like I got a little more control, you can subdivide pictures into different folders.

In Him,
Gary

I had to replace my computer at the office during tax season and went with a Dell with extra large monitor( so I can enjoy March madness). It's a Windows 10, but I don't have any pictures on it. I had 15 years of pictures on my old phone and lost them all, along with all my clients phone numbers. T-Mobile said the SIM card was too old and incompatible to download to my iPhone.
It amazes me how technology is changing so fast, wish I had William's smarts, maybe I could grasp it all. I can back up tons of client data onto a thumb drive, unreal.

I'm not so smart anymore... who can keep up with it all! The device Gary mentioned seems pretty nice.

Most computers allow you to do a search based upon certain criteria like a file extention for instance.

You could put something like this in your search: *.jpg or *.tif or *.gif or *.png or any other picture extension type. The wildcard character (*) a dot (.) and the extension type you are looking for png, jpg, tif, gif, etc., and it will bring up all of those types of files on your computer (assuming you are looking for something on your C drive (you can search D drive, E drive or any other drive you might have.

Once the search is finished you can select all of those files and copy them to a new location or folder or a thumb drive. I suspect that the USB drive Gary mentioned just automates that process making it a neat solution to the problem.

You shouldn't get rid of your old sim card though, because all you need is some type of card reader and you should be able to access all of the stuff on it and you then can copy it to another medium, i.e. a thumb drive, another computer, etc..

A sim card is just like another thumb drive, or any other type of drive, which enables you to access it just as easily as you'd access your C drive on your computer.

Blessings,
William

Hummm, I wondered if the guy at T-Mobile was covering up the fact he didn't know how to make the old SIM card work, but I didn't push it. He had a device that would transfer everything, but when he did it nothing happened. It was over a year ago anyway and I've sat down and recreated my client list and sooo. I still have a lot to learn with the new Windows 10, as well as with the iphone. I just found out a couple months ago from my brother that my iphone was counting my steps????Who'd a thunk it? I guess if a person isn't motivated within it could be an encouraging tool, imagine Siri sounding off like a drill sergeant...right, left, right, left.... you can do it..lol

I wondered if the guy at T-Mobile was covering up the fact he didn't know how to make the old SIM card work

I went to one of these computer geeks to find out if He could restore some texts that I had deleted. He ask me if they were in the cloud, I told him no I had it turned off. He said there was no way to restore them. I had read differently and was trying to find out info about it.

I finally found that if a text had been deleted and was under 90 days it could be restored. Sure enough it worked, I had my restored conversation with a client.

I since then have been leery about tech advice.

I just found out a couple months ago from my brother that my iphone was counting my steps????Who'd a thunk it?

Worse then that Google and Facebook is tracking everything we do. When you press the "I accept" button were giving them liberty to do what they want with our information. Even sharing it with third party groups. I was looking at an item at a store a while back thinking about maybe buying it, then decided to look around. Shortly there after I was getting all kinds of ads showing other places that carried the item. Interesting!

Since then I have switched to DuckDuckgo search engine and have had better results, the ads have almost disappeared, I don't feel like Big Brother is watching my every move.

DuckDuckgo does not give out your information nor do they allow third party cookies on your hard drive.

I think safari is another good browser used by Apple but don't know if I can use it in windows.

The computer technology has changed so much I don't understand a lot about it and have had to use trial and error when using it. Any good tips on how to make it easier to use is much appreciated.

I thought about going to Apple computers but feel like I'd be at a loss on how to operate it after using windows all these years. Microsoft is basically forcing everyone out of windows 7, since there's no more updates in January. I look for the next big change; they'll go to "Windows 12" and say we all need it. LOL

I am thinking about switching to IPhone instead of Droid, but I'm using Verizon, the last two new phone updates I was given wrong information, and I found out once the sale is made they hire all knew people who don't know who your are. I've heard a lot of good about IPhones lately.

In Him,
Gary

Don't overdo the eggnog. That stuff can kill you! Also, since I've been arguing so much about taking things literally, I should clarify-- I meant 'stop getting older' in the metaphorical sense.

I can remember really thinking eggnog was so good when I was a kid, later in life I bought some and it was way too rich for my taste. Maybe it needed a shot of bourbon...lol

I am looking forward to some great food for lunch, hopefully it will have a few Cambodian dishes included. My niece and nephews wife just came back from a year over there (he wont be back til next month, mission trip) and I'm sure she'll want to show what she learned to fix.

So whats the secret to stop it, Get a Harley! LOL

Believe me I don't feel old at all. Your not old till you pass 95. Isn't there a scripture that says when a man dies when he is 100 it will be as if a young child died.

I'm going to give you guys a quiz: Your not allowed to look it up in the Bible, whatever the first thing that pops in your mind should be your answer. In the next post I will give you the correct answer. Here goes:

Clue: You've seen the pictures, and the verse in all the Bible bookstores.

Question: During the millennium; Which "animal" is said to "lie down with the lamb"?

Quickly think of your answer, in the next post will be the correct answer.

Gary

Did anybody get that quiz right?

I didn't, I immediately thought 'lion'. Probably under the influence of some tv show!

I was having lunch with my family when you posted the quiz, so I asked my nieces and nephew (who is in seminary) if anyone knew the answer, I suggested it probably wasn't the first thing to come to mind "lion" because you wouldn't have asked if there was an obvious answer. One said snake (asp), another said bear, but the one least likely (in my mind) said a wolf, Isaiah.

Actually the scripture in Isaiah 11:6-8says that the wolf shall dwell with lamb; the animals lying down together are the leopard and the kid, and the young ones of the cow and bear. The sucking child plays on the hole of the asp.

"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
And the suckling child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den." Isaiah 11:6-8

Yes the scripture in Isaiah tells us this. I was thinking maybe there's another scripture somewhere else like Revelation or something. It just surprised me that I had believed it was a lion and lamb, this is the way it was always presented in photos.

It's another one for the books; No three wise men at the manger, we don't know the number and they showed up at a house, then no lion and lamb, oh I guess it could happen, and lastly I don't believe at the last supper Jesus and all the disciples were setting on one side of the table. Did I leave anything out?

Maybe that is where this all originated; from the "old paintings centuries ago."

In the scripture you shared it mentioned a cockatrice den, I wondered what a cockatrice was, turns out its a mystical creature that would stare at someone and they would die. LOL

Several chapters later I was reading awhile back and it mentioned a fiery flying serpent. I looked this up and some believe there is still a serpent that can fly, its bite is deadly. The article said they existed in some countries.

I could not find out to much information on them so I don't know if their real. They are mentioned several times in scripture.

Anyway, it was a bit of a shock about the lion and the lamb, maybe they thought the wolf didn't look as good.

You guys have a blessed day in the Lord, I'm just glad the holidays is over. Rolling Eyes

In Him,
Gary

All this new technology is great till something goes wrong.

I have an app on my phone that will start or stop my car, lock the doors or unlock from any where I want to take control. One of the features is being able to find where your car is at all times, even if its miles away, it will show up on the map and show the street where its stopped at. That feature might be great if you have teenagers. (Yeah like I need to keep watch on my car. LOL)

Somehow while deleting other programs off my computer something got turned off, I think I just realized when it happened but now finding how to get back there is the trick.

Didn't Einstein once say "when technology was increased people would turn into idiots."

The nerve of that guy.

Anyway I don't know if its a good idea to control everything you got with the cell phone.

Now cell phones can control the thermostat, lights in the house, garage door opener, security cameras, you can do online banking, check credit cards, and even make money transfers online, etc.. If its got WiFi you can hook it up to the phone. I see where in Windows 10 you can hook into your cell phone but you can't send text.

Just thinking out loud here, you guys probably don't have this problem. Someone told me that if you don't have a computer and cell phone you won't be able to survive in society in the future. There's some truth to that you know.

In Him,
Gary

I don't know about anyone else but no, I don't have that problem. My car doesn't have features like that, I just recently upgraded from a 2003 Honda to a 2016 Honda. Just am learning to trust the back up camera, and the Bluetooth stuff ??? But I can see there'll be no going back, controlling home functions from afar is cool, if the home is set up for it... my apartment isn't 😊

I am thankful for the convenience of the technology that I can use, computers speed up tax preparation tremendously. I also like my electric blanket.😊 And this little device in my hand (iPhone) is pretty handy, allowing me to communicate with fellow believers around the world from the comfort of my bed.

btw: the clock isn't right, it's not 11:48 , not that there'd be anything wrong with me being in bed at that time...it's 5:48 am cst

I'm up to an iphone 6. Traded up from my iphone 4. Razz I'm determined not to be one of those people who walk around staring at their phones all day long. Bluetooth in the car is very useful though and very easy to set up.

Those are both real demonic creatures. Thats why they are mentioned in the bible. I did some study on that stuff a while ago. I'm not worried about the Cockatrice stare sending me off though. As I recall off the top of my head the fiery flying serpent is of the order of the Seraphim.

Hey Mark,

I only went to the iPhone because the old flip phone died. I got a iPhone 6s plus, still learning stuff, I'll get around to the car Bluetooth stuff( I have set it up where I can take calls and talk, it's the remembering which button on the steering wheel to push ...because I can't read them while driving and reading glasses don't work for driving) lol

Scripture of the day:

Speaking of technology stuff, remember Y2K? That was 20 years ago! Amazing how time passes so quickly. People awaken on January 1st 2000 relieved that everything didn't come to a end. I imagine there's still bottled water an emergency meals stored in homes.

That's kind of ironic everything that took place twenty years ago now we find our selves in 2020. We started out with the end of 2019 going to an outdoor wedding. Man was it cold, I shook the grooms hand and it felt like a frozen fish. They had the wedding on the side of white river by a real little cabin up on the hill. Someone had built a platform up on some large rocks with a stairway leading up to it.

I felt sorry for the Bride and bridesmaids, they had on flimsy wedding gowns, with no sleeves. I know those young gals had to be freezing but no one showed it. I had on my heavy jacket and was shivering to the bones there was a strong wind blowing and it was in the 30's. If it wasn't for the fact it was a favorite nephew I would of left. LOL The reception was in a large tent which was equally cold with a small heater. We were freezing for 6 1/2 hours.

I was glad we had a high tech heater in the car with heated seats when we left. When we left they were clearing the floor and everyone started jumping around wildly (dancing) to keep warm. LOL I'll never forget that wedding.

It has been very cloudy here for several days and now the first day of the year its Sunny but in the thirties. The sun always seem cheery.

Talking about technology the push for robots seems to be progressing at a fast pace. Now with robots that look like humans and can communicate with people seems incredible. I thought it would never happen in our life time.

It will be interesting to see what happens in 2020. I hope and pray everyone has a Blessed and Prosperous year "in the Spirit" and may God's face shine upon you in Jesus name!

In Him,
Gary

They make a device for your computer that runs around 130.00, supposedly you can put every receipt you get in this device, and it copies it to a folder on your hard drive. Do you know if the IRS will accept this for your receipts and can I throw all my receipts away once their recorded?

I have a huge amount of receipts stored now in the closet if I was to be audited from past years, I thought this would help get rid of the mess.

Secondly, Do you know if we still have to have medical insurance by law where they penalize you if you don't have it? Did they do away with Obama care? I was interested to know I'm covered by being a veteran but my wife has to buy insurance.

In Him,
Gary

Must be getting tax time...😄

President Trump did away with the penalty for not having health insurance and it is in effect starting with the 2019 tax return. If she doesn't want insurance, she isn't required to have it.

The keeping of business records need to be for 5 years and if they find fraud in an audit they can go back more years. If you were honest in filing your tax returns you can shred/burn everything older than 5 years. Personal records 3 years including the copy of your returns.

With the tax reform of last year, I can't see many individuals needing to keep personal receipts with the new standard deduction being increased to 25k for married filing jointly and the 2106 form (employee business expenses) is almost nonexistent for federal returns.

James,

I hit the mother lode here. I dug out stuff clear back to 1995. We used the Dome books when keeping records, and there was all of our information. Case after Case of our receipts. We were ready if Uncle Sam showed up. I had a tax lady at one time who worked for the IRS and then she started her own business when she retired.

She called me up one summer and asked me if we were paying our dog tax! Cool

Oh you forgot to mention if that receipt recorder (don't know what its called), was accepted by the IRS? I assume you haven't had someone spring one of those on you. I have heard of people at tax time, showing up with a shoe box full of receipts.

I don't envy your job having to crunch numbers all day. Probably cause I'm limited in my math skills, you have to be fairly smart to deal with people's taxes. My wife works with payroll and taxes, shes a wiz at math.

Any rate I thought I'd let you know I have 25 years of records setting here. I wonder if anyone has kept more then that?

In Him,
Gary

Electronic records are accepted by IRS. I don't crunch numbers very often except for my own return, after 23 years I've about "trained" my clients to have everything totaled, I'm not their accountant I am a tax preparer.

I was looking at the OT Theology notes Mark put on this board, and you did an excellent job of note taking. I read stuff I completely forgot and seen information that made more sense thirty of forty years later. Sorry I was going to put a reply over there but did not want to ruin the notes with a reply. If that makes sense.

I thought this was good:

b) The interpretation and understanding of OT religious and theological concepts will be always from the point of view of the Hebrew mind in the OT dispensation. You have to consciously avoid reading back into the OT your understanding of the NT revelations

Good Point! I have been wondering sometimes if we try to take too much information and make it for us today, when we don't clearly see what the Hebrew Children were seeing and hearing.

I'm reading now in Leviticus,(I have read it several times over the years), and this time it seemed overwhelming all the information on what the Israelite had to do in order to sacrifice animals before the Lord. I almost quit reading it and started to jump ahead and then decided not to quit. I think I'm going to stop for now and go through the notes first. I wanted to print it out but its over 82 pages. My printer drinks ink.

This should be interesting to go through. Thanks for taking the time to post this information.

In Him,
Gary

Still not able to post, it's wiping out my strength, home from hospital, short description, my aorta tube shredded. That's a horrible. Pain to go threw. Thankfully the Lord came down to the gates of death and brought me back to the land of the living.

I'm so Thankful

I haven't been eating much believing for appetite back. Taking a day at a time. I'll share what happened as strength comes back. As the Lord leads your prayers are appreciated. Thank you for being there.

Lord bless Gary

Just wanted to say somethings here about the Big Tech companies.

Why is all this information being gathered about people, is it only for advertising purposes? Let's hope so, but something seems more sinister in the fact of what we see taking place recently. They ban a president from certain accounts, What are they afraid of? They take down parlor from apple so conservatives can't chat? They remove Christian content from facebook, while leaving and excusing pedophile information? If that isn't enough they are now giving us free storage in the "cloud" where all our information is being stored on their computer. How nice of those guys, right?

The big tech world has taken a turn for the worse.

There is some ways to slow the information gathering, many people are switching to MeWe, don't know how much better it is but seems better then facebook.

Another good search engine is DuckDuckgo it doesn't install cookies on your hard drive and I have found your not flooded with advertisements when you want to purchase something. I went in a store a good while back an was looking at an item to buy thought I would wait and check prices elsewhere. Went out to my truck and there on my phone was the items with different prices from amazon. Interesting?
I switched to DuckDuckgo and it stopped happening.

Another good app is "Signal" all your text messages are encrypted. But people you talk to must have signal on their phone for this to work. It's a free app. Nothing is stored in cloud and you can send messages that disappear after a certain amount of time.

You might know about these apps but if not I thought someone might be interested.

I don't have confidence in government officials who ripping up Bibles in public think its okay to kill a baby after it is born. Telling God's people we don't want you to sing in church. If we would just bow the knee to their idols everything will be okay is what we will be hearing next.

In Him,
Gary
