Hi! I was not a member of FA but I visited there 2 or 3 times. In 1976, I was immersed in HF's faith teaching. I was being mentored and instructed in this teaching by a couple who lived in Angola, IN and I listened every day to FA teaching tapes.
During this "phase" of my life, I went without glasses, illegally drove my car, and stumbled around the house till I picked up a piece of dog poop (thinking it was my son's toy car).
In 1976, I decided to have my 2nd child at home.(I was 21-yrs old.) My husband was willing to go along with the plan, however, most of my family was opposed. My older sister tried to talk to me but I mocked her and asked her if germs were more real to her than Jesus Christ.
The baby was born without a hitch, but then the after-birth became stuck and would not deliver. Fortunately my husband, who had not listened to the FA tapes, called a doctor who told him exactly how to deliver the after-birth.
At that point, I began to wise up. Today, I am so thankful to God for preserving me. After, picking up dog poop, damaging my relationship with my only sister and almost bleeding to death... I figured out that there was something wrong with what I was being taught.
Today, I attend a good church that teaches faith in God, but also teaches that His ways are higher than ours and we DO NOT know everything! I have seen miracles (my 3rd child was healed of a severe brain injury) but now they come when I submit to God, worship Him and cry out to Him... knowing that He does all things well and just knowing and believing that He loves us!
I dont talk much about that phase of my Christian walk. I think I'm embarrassed by my own foolishness and now realize all that could have been lost.
I was arrogant during that time. I was not walking in His love and I actually felt very far from God. Now if I am confused or have a question about something I seek HIM and in His time He provides the understanding and the answer. I am so thankful to God for His faithfulness and love.
In His Service,

Welcome Midge,

If this is an attempt to blame FA and HF for your misfortunes you may want to reread
your post in light of what the scriptures say about meekness, love and forgiving others
Before God will hear our prayers !
I was there in 1976, at the Barn, no one told us to do anything illegal !
You mocking your sister wasn’t anything taught at FA ! Read Matthew 5-6-7, That’s
What we were taught !

You said:
(I was arrogant during that time. I was not walking in His love and I actually felt very far from God.)
Jesus was sent to the Meek and lowly in heart:
Read :Isaiah 61:1 (KJV)
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek

Why do you want to blame FA/HF for your sin and disobedience ?

I know that, personally, I am learning to walk out my own salvation with fear and trembling.

I was guilty of letting peer pressure direct me at times at FA. That was my fault...no one else's. I made that choice. However, I was never as close to Him as I was then. I am striving to get there again. And, no, I am not living in the past. I just believe I know what it is going to take to make it in the near future. It is not getting any easier.

I thank Him everyday for the teaching from FA. I really am sorry you regret your time spent there. What I was taught has gotten me through very hard times and continues to do so.

This forum is for those who agree and disagree with others. I choose to agree to disagree with you.

Be blessed,

Shalom,

GWB

Greetings Midge,
I would love to hear how the Lord healed your 3rd child of a severe brain injury. Someone who I knew in high school got in a car accident and had a brain injury that had drastically changed her life. As far as I know, she never recovered and lived a normal life.

God is most certainly faithful to heal and deliver and save. I have seen it in my own life multiple times, but as we were taught there are conditions. I think many people did things out of zeal and not faith. I cannot say why you had the trial you did, but as you said you have seen God heal.
I truly believe God is trying to prepare us to not depend on man for things, but rather to put all our trust in Jesus and the Word of God.

We can debate and blame Brother Freeman and Faith Assembly if we choose to, but when I listen to what Brother Freeman shared I see it as a word of preparation for what is ahead and how I should live my life now. An admonition to trust God completely and take His word and believe that what He said, He would do. If God said not to be afraid of the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flies by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday, then that is what we are to believe. When God says a thousand shall fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee, then we are to believe the promise God gave us.
The key to these verses is Ps 91:9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation.
vs 14 He hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
There is promise after promise after promise of all the ways God wants to protect us, lead us, guide us, sustain us, heal us, feed us and anything else we would need in this world.
These are things God used Brother Freeman to show me were in the word. This is why I love Brother Freeman and what was taught at Faith Assembly, but one of the most important things he said was to get faith in my heart myself and not depend on a man, because that man won't always be around, but God would always be faithful.

The devil wants us to be dependent on the world and it's ways. If you need money, borrow. We sure have seen what that has done to people. Or look to the government to help in time of need instead of the Lord. God said he would provide for our every need and also give us the desires of our heart. The key is our desires need to be in line with the Lords will, and this will only come as we learn the voice of the Shepherd to lead and guide. There are ones on this site who have seen God exceedingly faithful all these years and continue to believe that if the Lord says He is our healer, they just believe it.
We need to be fully persuaded in what God has shown us, and we need to be able to let the Lord bring each of us along at the pace God knows we need, because the promise is He who has begun a good work in us will complete it.

Also Midge, if you ever have a question for someone personally there is a private message page you can go to and send them a note just between the two of you. Lord bless you.

Hi Midge,

Often over the years I've wondered about 'what went wrong', but since joining this forum and reading the testimonies of people, both here, as well as FacNet and Tomax7, I think the answers have become clearer. Obviously there was peer presure and some (many?) didn't ever have faith (IN GOD) in their hearts, as revealed by time and trials.

Lest you think those who have remained faithful to what God taught us through HEF believe ourselves to be perfect or above others, we're(Me, for sure)not. Many of us have stumbled and fell, only to repent and press on. Midge, the truth isn't predicated upon what man says, does, or thinks; God's Word is Truth and stands on it's own. Brother Freeman was the vessel God used to teach us that which wasn't being taught many other places, and though faith was stressed (because without it we can't please God, He expects us to believe Him, nothing works apart from faith) he did teach the whole council of God. (and we shouldn't have to alway point out that he, HEF, wasn't perfect, or defend his teachings...I don't)

I hope you aren't bitter or unforgiving about the choices you've made in life, that'll only be harmful to yourself(should that be the case, hopefully it's not.)

Thanks for taking the time to share, hope you will read and draw encouragement from the posts on this forum...God is just as willing to reward those who will trust Him today as He was 30 years ago, 100 years ago, or 2010 years ago; the same yesterday, today, and forever...

James > No, I'm not bitter... I actually haven't even thought about it in years. A thought came across my mind a few days ago... something I had heard in Bruce Kinsey's testimony tape. Then I wondered if he (Bruce) was still preaching and whatever happened to Hobart Freeman? I moved to Pennsylvania in 1983, so I never knew what happened to Dr. Freeman until I went online a few days ago. That's when I found out what happened AND I found all you guys! I just thought I would tell my story. Add some input and maybe some insight. I don't blame anyone but myself (... and well, maybe the devil) for what happened to me and I when I do think of it I actually feel fortunate that in my case things turned so well.

Migonator,

Thanks for being honest, you’ll fit right in with the rest of us imperfect Believers on this board.

God has showed forth His Grace and Mercy on all of us. He has kept His hand on all
Of us, even when we walked the other way for a time. (I speak for myself)
God has also preserved you for This time and This day……Rejoice and Be Glad in it !

Come….Break bread and Fellowship with us !

It’s hard to show emotions from the key board, I pray that my 1st response wasn’t too
Harsh…..it wasn’t meant to be……cause I had been guilty of the same things in times past……

Blessings in Jesus Name
Ron

Thank you, Grandom. I do believe that I was directed here and you have already been a blessing to me. I have corresponded privately with Sage who has asked that I post the story of my son, Mark's healing of a severe brain trauma injury. I will be happy to do that in a week or two ... just very busy right now. God Bless! Smile

Shalom
