Since Halloween is just a few days away, I wanted to put together some teaching that explained where the holiday came from and what influence pagan practices has on it. I've encounter some younger folks who, like most of the rest of christianity, are deceived into thinking Halloween is OK, they're FREE... I was reading scriptures that pertained to these occult practices and God's commandments regarding how a Christian should view this day . I came across several web sites that had articles about Halloween, and a couple of them had tracts/articles written by Dr.Russell K. Tardo(he's picked up Dr. to go in front of his name since I last heard from him). I remembered him from the 80's and knew he was from Louisana.

Anyway, he has a church in Kenner, La.(Faithful Word) and a web site with several tracts on Halloween, Easter, Christmas, and a few other topics. Rather than copy or repeat what he's written, I am posting his web address, where his studies and teachings on the occult/pagan origins of the holidays can be easily read. If anyone remembers, he had tracts back in the 70's and 80's that we often passed out (at least I did) that were quite good at explaining the occult origins of the 'big three'... pagamas, east- star, and halloween.

To read the tracts, google Faithful Word Assembly(or Ministries) and click on the web site (first one), then click on tracts to read.

Sorry, I couldn't get the web address link to connect, but it's no trouble to google it...

Today I was listening to a pastor who was teaching on christmas and showing how it's wrong. He taught what most of us have already been taught by Bro.Freeman 30 years ago, explaining the pagan influences and the origin of each of the false 'gods' and deities. He gives much background on and explaination on each aspect of idolatry and how it all was slowly incorporated into the church. He points out how the church has 'christianized' pagan practices, by justifying their actions by saying...'yeah, we know about all the occult/pagan influence, BUT, we are doing it to worship baby jesus, and that makes it OK."

But he summed it all up with one statement that really says it all...

"The trouble with christmas is that the whole thing is a crass, commericalized, materialistic, greedy, idolitrous, immoral, pagan, heathen, non-Christian, Christ dishonoring, decadent, unbiblical, unholy, abomination, in the sight of a Holy God."

A-MEN...

Quote from a brother in England...

"Halloween; everyone dresses up and pretends to be something they're not.

Kinda sounds like Sunday morning, maybe it is a christian religious holiday after all...LOL "

I can remember when someone shared with me about the darkness of Halloween and my arguement was like others: What's wrong with going around to houses and getting free candy?

Well, as I did more research on what is behind Halloween it was obvious how dark and demonic this day really is. The christian in the United States has been desensitized to how much occult influences there are all around. The witch is made to be a funny custome a child wears, not to mention ghosts, devils, ninja's, and many others. Seems like the church has changed trick or treaking to trunk or treat(or something like that.)
That way kids can go to the church parking lots and get candy where it is safe, but they still dress up in their customes.
And of couse there are also called the Fall Festival, which is just another name for Halloween.

What is truly sad is many don't see all the occult there is on TV, in magazines, on the computer, in the stores, in childrens books and about anyplace you turn around.

Even if people laugh at us, we need to continue to share about the dangers of days such as Halloween, stories on the TV, and articles in magazines, because one day their eyes may just be opened to how truly dangerous such things are.

And laugh they will...I just came in from my morning walk and workout at the community fitness center. There was a DJ setting up his equiptment for the annual 'Fall Festival' that will have a chili cook-off, bobbing for apples, costume contest, free candy for the kids, and more. I explained to a young guy working out, who says he's a christian, the occult origins of Halloween and watched as he did the eye roll thing. Then he started telling me about the company Halloween party he'd attended last night...and justifying why he'd participated.

Yes, I agree, regardless of their reactions we're to be light in darkness. It's up to them as to what they do with truth.

Just for curiosity sake I googled what was spent on Halloween in 2009.
$4.74 BILLION. I think I remember seeing at another site that halloween spending is greater then the christmas season.

Sure would feed a lot of hungrey people.

Well James, one plants, one waters and God gives the increase.
You either planted a seed or watered one. Hopefully one day
this person will have his eyes open to the truth of Halloween.

Grandom, I can believe all the money spent on Halloween. Now they have pumpkin lights, ghost lights and I am sure other things you can buy to decorate your house, just like Christmas time.

It is truly a humbling thing to have eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart to receive these truths. Praise God for all His goodness and mercy to us!

It truly is Sage. Unless God opens there eyes they cannot see.
Why He chose us is a mystery but one we will always praise Him.

More about Christmas...

This is quoted from the book by Charles E. Newbold Jr. titled, 'The Harlot Church System, Come out of Her, My People.'

"Christmas has always been, is now, and ever shall be a pagan festival. It has grown over the centuries to become the enchanting, magical, merchant-driven insult to God that it is now. We are mesmerized by it. Hooked on it. Enslaved by it. In debt to it.

Christmas is another example of how powerful the false living spirit of harlotry is. There is a spirit of Christmas. It is warm; it is wonderful; it is good...and it is not from God."

I wonder if Paul made that much money making tents! Very Happy

So much for the stereotype missionary living in a hut in the jungle.

Idolatry is sin, worship of idols is sin, taking pagan celebrations and 'christianizing' them doesn't change anything, even if you ARE Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. Saturnalia, taken from the Romans December 25th worship of the god Saturn has evolved through the years to what it is today...Still a pagan holiday. All the various traditions that have been incorporated through time have their origins in either paganism or vain traditions of man.

Jesus said that The Way was strait and narrow and few would find it...it is estimated that 95% of Americans celebrate xmas(the holiday that is dedicated to the birth of baby jesus, so they profess). So anyone think that 95% of americans are saved? Is even 95% of the church saved? He said there is a remnant who will not bow down to idols...I Kings 19:18 Part of 'overcoming' is standing against sin whether it be disguised as 'christian' as is Xmas and Eastar, or something that is obvious to all men.

This is shared not to comdemn anyone reading, but to hopefully cause one to search out the truth and prayerfully seek God for wisdom, understanding, and discernment.

There is so much untruth mixed into this holiday that everyone just accepts it as gospel truth.

Everywhere you go you see these manger scenes in front of peoples homes with Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus in a manger, and the three wise men bringing gifts, and maybe a few animals like cows, etc.

I was driving to work the other day listening to tapes on the NT. The man reading the scriptures on the three wise men.

Then I realized that they never were at the manger scene, the three wise men came later and entered a house where Jesus as a baby was. It may be a minor area but its part of all the untruths being propagated in America.
