As I read this young girl's blog I'm reminded of what is important in
this life and how pathetic my problems are in the big scheme of
things.

I found the site three or so years ago and each time I visit I realize
the sheer folly of assigning relevance to things I've considered
important. Surely God will deliver us from our lofty thoughts of
self-importance as our eyes become focused on someone who exemplifies
a 'living sacrifice' in such a way that puts most of us to shame.

We are the ones who have heard the deeper life message, the ones with
the standard-issue theological briefcases; we are the ones with the
arguments that would dissuade a woman from this kind of work, and yet
here we sit, complaining about... well, you know what we complain
about...

If you have the time you might go to the oldest blog messages first (I
think she started in 2007 right after she graduated from high school)
in order to understand the whole experience. To read the messages in
the order that they were written you'll need to go to the bottom of
each page and read to the top; it's worth the trouble.

p.s. I think that she was/is? a member of one of those types of
churches that we've been talking about... just so you'll know--in case
that makes a difference in whether or not you choose to read the blog.

I want to believe!

That was very interesting as well as quite moving. Kind of puts grumbling about prosperity into perspective. I'm going to read the whole thing as I have time.

Thanks for posting it.

Ditto.

I have shared it with quite a few people and on other sites.

Like I said somewhere else, it almost embarresses me to get out of bed in the morning after reading about such a giving, yielded and sacrificial young woman. Embarassed

I am sorry for any whining, Lord. (Sigh) Time to pick up Deeper Life In The Spirit book again.

Shalom,

Today I was listening to various sermons and interviews by David Platt (the pastor of The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham) that I had missed by not having access to audio on the computers I use. I came across this Katie Davis (Kisses From Katie) interview with David a couple years ago. If anyone is interested you can find it by going to YouTube and searching under 'Brook Hills Church'.

As for her being a member of 'one of those type churches we were talking about'...I have had my eyes opened and my heart changed concerning people from 'those type churches'...I have witnessed that there are followers of Christ in 'those type churches'.

I would like to say that I have repented of being critical and judgmental of 'those type churches' and would ask forgiveness from you brothers and sisters for the critical comments I've made over the years, I was wrong...
