It seems like in many peoples lives there is trouble and confusion of what is going on. Some question God as to "Why have you allowed this to happen to me and my family." "God, don't you care about me any more?" "When is this ever going to end?" "You promised....!"
I think sometimes we catch ourselves just looking back and thinking if it only could be like it was. "I had a good job, but now I'm unemployed or underemployed." "If I only had it to do over I would do..." Sometimes I think it is good to reflect on all the things we've see the Lord do for us in the past, but we can't live there. We must press on to what the Lord has for us today. I think some give over to self pity and disappointment and discouragement when they look back and think
"it should have been this way." God is so much bigger than our past, and today he wants us to walk with Him in joy, faith, victory, peace and a belief that He has our best and eternal interest in mind. Easy for us? NO, not always, but how else can we see how God is faithful who promised?!
Sometimes we give a pat answer to someone going through something: "God is faithful," "He will never leave you nor forsake you," "all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." And yet each one of those statements is true and should be received and thank God for His promises to be faithful, to never leave us and that He will work all things together for our good. Sure is easy to write these things, but sometimes not so easy when we are in the heat of the battle and being bombarded on everyside, where our adversary would like nothing more than to discredit God's word. Doesn't matter if we walk in the promises or not, because they are still true: always has been always will be. It is our choice to believe God's word in these days of trouble.
Here is a few verses I believe we can use today and in the days ahead when we are attacked by the enemy of our soul:
Psalm 9:9-10 "The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee."
Psalm 91:1-16
Psalm 100:1-5
Prov. 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
John 8: 31-32 "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
Col. 3:1-4 "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Set your affection of things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."
These are just a very few promises to us, as we call on the Lord for our help. If you are ever feeling overwhelmed with everything going on in your life and family, remember:
Psalm 61:1-3 "Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy."
May God continue to be our shelter and guide in the days ahead.

Hey Sage,
What wonderful promises! It is good to be reminded of "the big picture."
I believe that as I grow and learn to abandened myself to Him more and more, the more room He has to work in my life in ways I could have never dreamed of since leaving the doors of FA.
I also agree with those here at OO that the time is now to witness and to believe for those He puts in our path.
I have been trying to hear Him on an everyday basis as to who to witness to, etc. I can't remember the last time I was met with hostility when sharing Jesus. Most are open and so very desperate for His help.
I was at Family Dollar Store and saw a man buying dog food. He said it was for him. He looked very poor and one the world would despise. It is a small world and I found out that our grandparents knew each other from a small town called Borden, Indiana. We prayed for his salvation. I then began sharing about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. He said he knew all about it by hearing Latin in the Catholic Church when he was little! Oh well, good thing I had tracks on me about the subject!
It will be wonderful if He chooses to allow a great annointing to fall for revival. In the meantime, because of the encouragement of OO, I have chosen to not wait and do something now.
Thanks for sharing and the encouragement. We have been given so much to be thankful for in the times in which we live.
Blessings,
GWB
