I recently joined Facebook and after a season of figuring things out a bit the things that I see as positive are more than I'd expected( family groups sharing the history of the family to young family members with stories and pictures) Reconnecting with old friends and schoolmates, etc.
The negative that I find myself surprised by is the political bickering by professing Christians. Right vs left, Trump vs Biden, Republicans vs Democrats ...hours and hours of arguments between the same folks about the same things. Corona virus is a hoax, a conspiracy, caused by Chinese, caused by Nancy Pelosi, caused by Donald Trump, wear a mask vs ain't nobody making me wear no masks...

So with a grieving heart I posted some scripture and suggested Christians pray instead of say ( James 1:19 & II Peter 2:10) and bless their hearts some of the most vocal people that consistently do this click on the "πŸ‘" like button, in hardy agreement.
Well if my ivory tower wasn't glass I'd call them out.....πŸ˜‡
Praying is better than saying many times.

That's funny, speaking of Barnie, Toby might be out of his allotted bullets, he came out firing but has gone silent. ( it takes a minute to dig those bullets out of them official officers shirt pockets)

Lost Baggage...

I watched a pastor today give a brief word of encouragement from Philippians 3:13-14 and I'd like to share it if I may.

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended; but this one thing I do, Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth into those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

He was stressing the importance of "remembering to forget " those sins/baggage from the past that hinder
our moving forward ( usually guilt). Forgetting the past isn't a loss of memory, it's a choice to shut the door on the condemnation/guilt/ weights/baggage and trust in the grace of God that it's under the blood of Jesus Christ and moving forward in faith.
Lose the baggage...

"Trust in The Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

I recall being told a few years ago concerning posted scripture by me on this thread, that anyone could quote a scripture and post it, but we should expound upon it and examine the text. I agree in most part, but some scriptures are self explanatory. Could a long discourse be made on these two verses? Certainly, but they are so direct and easy to understand that I will just encourage anyone reading (of the multitude out there) to place your trust in Jesus, and don't get caught up in the worlds distractions, they are nothing but Satans attempt to shake you and cause you to forget your first love , Jesus.

Years ago, I told someone something the Lord showed me while studying His Word. The Reply was: We need to quit doing all this studying and get out and do something in the Kingdom for Jesus. A few months later I stopped into this persons house and he was busy watching a movie.

Satan walks around like a roaring lion speaking through men trying to take us from God's Word.

Psalms 5:11

Amen
With everything going in these last days We know that God is there defending us for He will never leave of forsake us.

Encouragement From The Word of God

Paul prayed this prayer over the church of Ephesus:

"That HE would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man;

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

May be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Unto HIM be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

Ephesians 3:16-21

Thanksgiving is for giving thanks, I'm thankful for God's everlasting mercy, grace, and love extended to me every day; mercies that are new every morning. I'm thankful for His truth that I can place my trust in for salvation, health, peace, and eternal life.

"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.
For The Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations."
Psalms 100:4-5

Promises, Promises...

There are many promises in God's Word, they're all activated by a person's willingness to believe them. That belief is not a natural trait of man, in fact, it's our nature to doubt everything. The ability to believe is a gift from God that is called faith. Every action taken by God to redeem us from our hopeless state, brought on by our rebelliousness against God, has to be received through faith as we see it revealed in His Word. Here is a couple of scriptures that should bring assurance and build the faith of the reader...

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto The Father, but by Me.' John 14:6

"Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them." Hebrews 7:25

Just wanted to drop in and say hi, it's the day that is made by The Lord, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Though the world (and most everyone I know celebrate it as Halloween) I refuse to believe Jesus is pleased with this day's revelry.
Trunk or Treat, Fall Festival, are names given by the church to describe this day's festivities; I've always believed that "if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it's a duck."
I've mellowed a bit on Christmas and Easter, I said a bitπŸ™„, but I can't find any Biblical ties to indicate a reason for followers of Christ to jump right into the world's celebration of Halloween. I heard said, but literally thousands of kids come through our church parking lots collecting candy, it might be their only chance to be exposed to Jesus and His love shown by Christians (dressed up like all manner of-----) giving out candy???
I pray πŸ™πŸ» I'm wrong and souls were saved and the church will be filled with neighborhood kids next Sunday....
I know, preaching to the choir, or venting in vain!
Love you guys.β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»
